Faint Shadow was tired. Just so tired of trying. After her daughters death she had the help of a man that helped her find her husband and killed him. She was pleased he was dead but now the ghosts of her past began to creep up on her. Haunt her. What was she to do? She couldn't keep running from it. He had killed their daughter. He had to die. But something just kept tugging at her about that night. She saw a figure in the shadows. Him no less watching his handy work and then disappearing into the night. But still something felt off in her dreams. She wasn't seeing his face anymore. She wasnt seeing any face anymore. Why? She was confused. Horribly confused.
Walking along the streets of City of the Damn she looked around. Vampires. God, she hated them and they hated her. Being a warrior she could take them on and win so they stayed away from her. At least they tried too. She was looking for a fight. Something, anything to make the pain go away. To kill the ones that should be killed because they didnt have a body to burn and her hands were clear to kill vampires. They were scum. And she knew she was doing the city a favor to do so.
Looking around she saw two vampires fighting over a young woman. Younger then herself and it angered Shadow. She ran over as she took out her sword and cut one down to size. He didnt even hit the ground before he turned to dusk. The other pushed the young woman into her and ran off.
"Coward!" Shadow screamed but he wasnt slowing down. She then looked to the young woman. "You shouldn't be out here."
"I know. I'm sorry. It's just that..."
"Let's go," she said turning away from her and began to walk.
"Where are we going?" she ask rushing up beside her and staying in step.
"I need to get you to a safe place for tonight. Then tomorrow I have a few friends you can stay with."
The young woman smiled. "Thank you so much."
She didn't smile and she just kept her face forward. "You're welcome."

Peering down at them from the top of a tall building a golden eyed figure cloaked in shadow with his arms crossed behind his back watched as the woman cut down one of his own, oh how they sickened him. Humans thinking they were meant for this world, thinking they had a fighting chance against Vampires like himself, taking a step away from the roof top he let himself fall. Feeling the air against his already cold dead skin Draco watched as the Vampire ran, a disgrace to his kind. Spreading his wings so not to make to much noise as he landed he quickly grabbed the collar of the vampire who fan from Shadow and pulled, forcing the vampire on to his back Draco glared in to his eyed “you don’t deserve the power you were given, if all you use it for is to run from your food!”
Looking up in to Draco’s eyes sheer terror in his own the Vampire scrambled to his feed and knelt down, placing the soul of his boot on the Vampires head Drack pushed down heard cruching the Vampires skull on the pavement, spitting on his ashes Draco turned his attention back on to the two women and made himself look as human as he could. Flapping his wings once he shot himself up in to the air and landed back atop the roof top, running to the end of the roof top he fell once more using his wings again to lighten his landing and then hid his wings while he walked out of the ally way, ripping his shirt he made it seem as if he were hurt himself. Oh how he loved playing these kinds of games with humans, stumbling out on to the street Drack grunted in pain making it seem as if he were attacked by a vampire.

Faint Shadow had her arm locked with the young woman. Trying to keep her distracted as she talked about nonsense Shadow looked ahead to see a man dragging himself out of an alley. He looked hurt. Shadow let lose on the girls arm and rushed over to him as she took out her sword. Looking down the alley she saw no one then turned to him.
"Are you ok? What happened to you?" Shadow asked a hint of concern in her tone. Sense the girl was attacked it didn't surprise her if the one that got away tried to eat someone else. Dammit. It pissed her off. Leaning down to his level she put a hand on him. Cold. His had was cold. It was warm out. Maybe they hand him tied up. The lack of blood would do that. Still something about him was off but until something changed she 'had' to help him.

Looking up at her he cringed in pain, it was fake but he was a good actor. Turning his head so that he was now looking her in the eye Draco gripped his arm “I, I was attacked vampire, I was trying to stop him from whoever he was running from, I think he broke my arm.” While gripping his arm he pulled down slightly so that it wouldn’t be obvious that he was breaking his own arm while he told the story, letting go of his arm it fell limp and slowly made an attempt at standing strait, now looking down at her he peered over at the lost meal, nodding he cringed in pain again, This time it was not so fake, glancing quickly at her blade he directed his attention back to her eyes.
“So I guess you’re the one he was running away from” he said with a light chuckle, it was funny a Vampire running from this woman who would of ever thought, moving his arm up quickly he re connected the bones “well at least it was a clean break.” Peering in to the future he saw if he were to try and take on this woman himself right at this time he would not be able to win this fight, it would take some time for this one.

Faint Shadow looked at the arm a moment as he was talking. Looking him in the eyes now she still felt something about him was off but looking back at the arm it was broken. "Yeah, he was running from me." She grinned as she looked over his arm but then he snapped it back into place. 'What a man' she thought. "Well, now. I guess you don't my help with that but just incase you better come with us to make sure no other blood suckers get hold of you. After all it was my fault he ran into you because I didn't kill him."
She smiled as she touched his shoulder to confert him then she turned to the young lady and smiled at her. "Ready to go?"
"Yes," she said with a little pleading in her tone.
"Ok. Like I said I know a safe place for you to be tonight." She turned to the guy. "And for you well the only safe place would probably be my place. The other place only deals with young people. Sorry. Hope thats ok."
Shadow hooked her arm with the young girls. "I'm Faint Shadow by the way."
"I'm Asley Summers."
"Nice to meet you Asley." She turned towards the man. "What about you? What should we call you?"

Looking over to them again he moved his arm around slowly, feeling and hearing the crackle of him as he moved it he cringed slightly and spoke with a tone of pain to his voice. “my name is Drake” for the longest time he hadn’t really played with his food, it was fun though and it wasn’t like he didn’t enjoy doing it. Thinking back to when he first turned it was always like a game to him see how long he could lead them on and then feed upon them, trust, betrayal, lust always a great combination before a meal. “so why don’t we take her with us there is always safety in numbers right?” he always tried to make himself seem a little more cautious when portending to be human, it was the way he was when he was human any way so why not go back to acting the way he used to.
Looking down from the roof tops another vampire followed, he knew who Drack was, he was on of his disciples, always very loyal and knew not to butt in near his food no matter what, no matter how hungry he was, but this time it was for an act and he could see that the one with the blade thought his master was a little off and didn’t fully trust him yet, he decided he would follow a little longer before helping.

Faint Shadow looked to the man as they walked. "I thought about that but I would feel a lot better if she would stay at the other safe house I know. They have so many guards in that place it would be hard for any creatures no matter who or what it was, it would be really hard to get through them. I never go inside with them. Its always for the best." She looked to the girl. "You will be safe there. I promise. Then tomorrow they will do everything they can for you."
"What about you?" The young woman asked.
Shadow smiled. "I am out each night looking for lost souls like yourself. My place laying in the darkness." She looked to the man. "Nice to meet you Drake. I hope we get along because I would like to have your help if you don't mind." She said keeping her eyes on his face. The man had a great poker face. 'Almost to good' Shadow thought. She also felt like she was being watched. All those years growing up as a worrior. Being the chosen one for her people and now being the only one left sometimes she didnt care if she lived or died. Her daughter was dead and she murdered her husband for killing her but lately her dreams have changed on her. She looked forward now.
"We are here," She said looking at a boarded up brick building. She looked to Drake. "Stay here." Then tighting her grip on the girls hand she walked her up to the door. Knocking on the door four times you could feel more eyes on them. Then the door opened. It was a huge metal door. The whole place on the inside was 5 inches of metal.
"Shadow?" A man said as he stepped out onto the steps.
"Hi Terry."
"God its good to see you."
"You to. Hey listen I have another one for you."
He looked to the girl. "Oh, wow. Its been awhile."
"I know. Glad to help." She looked to the girl. "Go ahead and go in."
The girl turned to Shadow. "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The girl turned and disappeared inside. She turned to Terry. "Thanks."
"Hey Shadow. Why wont you ever come inside?"
"Because I can't Terry. You know that."
"We're your friends and family now. Please Shadow."
"No Terry. Look I have to go. I have someone else to help." She pointed over to Drake.
Terry whisped to Shadow. "I dont like the looks of him."
"I can handle myself. Dont you worry about that."
"God I hope so."
"I know so." She hugged him and then he disappeared back inside. Standing there for a moment she turned and headed down the stairs and walked over to Drake. "To my place before the sun rises then. I'm more a night owl now. I dont like the sun. Care to join me?"

Nodding he smiled and started to walk beside her yet again, hearing something Drake looked up and smirked very lightly and pushed shadow out of the way, landing where she stood a vampire slashed at him, his claws long and sharp he clawed Draco across the face before he grabbed the vampire by the neck and stabbed him in the heart with a silver dagger, pinning the vampire against the wall Draco Glared at him the scar of four claw marks across his face Draco munched the Vampire and knocked him out his out before the vampire slowly started to turn to dusk. After only the dagger was left Draco grabbed his face in pain “sh*t !” he yelled in pain, what a f*cking day he thought to himself.

As Drake push Shadow out of the way she turned and saw him fight another vampire. 'Maybe he was noble' she thought. But the off feeling about him still pulling at her. She wouldnt totally ignore it but she would move the feeling aside for now.
Just watching the madness before her she was about to jump in when Drake killed the other vampire but then he began to scream. Rushing over to him she had him look up at her. She giggled at him. "Its only a scratch you big baby." She took his hand in hers. "Come on! Let's get to my place before one more blood sucker tries to bite your head off!"
They got to a really nice looking building that was heavily guarded with soldiers. She put her hand over a metal plate and the door opened. Smiling she turned toward Drake. "Come on in. Sense you're with me theirs no need to worry about the guys inside."
She walked past a security desk with a man around his 50s with salt and pepper hair and blue eyes. He stood as he saw Shadow come in and went to her and hugged her. The man stood about 6'7 and looked built like a SEAL. His huge body standing next to Shadow was crazy. The height was so different. He looked liked when he hugged her he would crush her but he was totally gentle.
Then pulling back he smiled down at her. "Good to see you Shadow."
"Clock wise Grant."
Grant looked to the man with her. "Who's this?"
"A friend."
Grant was staring at him. If he had heat vision he would be burning a hole through him.
Shadow hit his arm. "Stop that Grant. Leave him alone."
Grants gaze went to hers. "Sorry. Habbit."
She turned to Drake. "Habbit indeed." She giggled and waved Drake to follow her. "See you later Grant!"
"You to and I mean it." He shouted.
They stepped into the elevator. "I'm sure you do." The doors closed. She hit number 10 as the number lighted and the elevator began to move. Looking over at him she said, "He likes to protect me like a father. My own father just threw me into the wild when I was 8. I had to bring home a rabbit to start off my training with. I brought home a deer. My mother was so proud but my family thought I was a show off. He threw me into a pit one night as it was raining. He told me to get out on my own. It was to muddy. I couldn't but he kept at me. After an hour the water was up to my knees. I began tocry but he didn't care." The doors opened and she walked out. They walked down the hall and turned left. Then came to a big door at the end of the hall and she pushed it open. "Welcome," she said as black lap jumped on her and knocked her back on her butt.
"Hey boy!" She said petting him and then she turned and looked at Drake that stood at the doorway. "Come in and make yourself at home. I need to feed him." She pushed the lab off her and got up heading for the kitchen. Then she called out, "Can I get you anything while in the kitchen?" She took out some cooked steak tips and put them in a bowl for him. She then got a bottle of water and turned back to see Drake and waited for him to speak.

Looking at the large man who hugged shadow, the man seemed to tower over Draco it was actually a little intimidating but really it was just another human. At least he thought it was, smiling he bowed slightly at the man, Draco wanted to be as civil as he could be right now, it he was to make any hint of danger to these people there was no chance that he would be able to survive the battle to come after the fact. “greetings fare giant” Draco said with a chuckle “my name is Drake” it was surprisingly peaceful in this place and impressively guarded for a Human refuge.
Looking about the building he saw there was really no way if he was to start a fight that he would be able to escape, and with all the guards standing duty it wouldn’t be easy for him to hide besides within the shadows and there didn’t seem to be many around for him to escape to.
Walking passed the two of them Draco looked to the many different humans standing about the main room, oh what a meal he thought to himself forcing himself not to lick his lips at the sight of the, turning so that he would give them his full attention he tilted his head slightly and asked “why have I never noticed this place before today” there was a bit of question and confusion to his tone at this point it was quite large but to never have noticed such a place and not to notice humans coming and going from this place was surprizing to him, after all he had been living in this city now for a number of years.
Following her in to the elevator he listened to the story and nodded she was quiet the woman, such strength, such passion it was the first time he was going to be sorry to kill a human but then he thought why would he have to. As the elevator doors opened he followed with a smile upon her face, she was very kind and trusting it was started to hard for him to even think about what he was going to do with her. But to tell her what he really was could be disastrous at this time, did he really care though he wanted this woman he wanted to take her in to his arms and hold her but was scared that he wouldn’t want to let go of her.
Walking down the hall he couldn’t take his eyes of her for some reason she was different, it was attractive a woman who could protect herself, a woman who could scare a vampire enough to run in fear from her. Opening the door he looked at the large dog and grinned lightly, being invited in he walked through the door, everything was going perfectly but he didn’t know if he could just kill this woman if he could just feed upon her and leave her to die.
Looking at her home it was quite quant a nice little place not much to it but again nice, something he personally could never get used to but something easy to maintain, then walking up behind her he looked her up and down one last time and placed his hands on her side “I can’t lie to you any longer I have something to tell you but I need you to promise you won think differently of me.”

Shadow turned to him. "You're a vampire," she said bluntly, "As we walked into the building their is a system that shows your heat figure on camera. You didn't even show up. Vampires don't. Grant whispered code 9 in my ear which was vampire. We have our ways." She took a drink of water. "Why we let you pass well it was my call. I own all you see around you. I'm their leader. The reason you didn't see this building was because a human never invited you to see it. This place is magical hidden so creatures like you just pass it up."
She took another sip and placed the bottle on the table. "I guess your wondering why I asked you in here. You're a very powerful vamp from what I hear Drake or should I call you Draco? Anyway I was curious if you'd want to join our side."
Grant also slipped a piece of paper into her pocket so when she came into the kitchen to feed the lab she looked at it. They had information on all creatures in this city. They had too. They were humans. "Oh and just to for warn you. You try anything then your dead within seconds. Just felt like you should know."
She studied him. Something about him stood out now. She wasn't sure why but she began to like what she saw. Maybe he knew. No fighting allowed. If he said he would join then she would relive all and if not well she hoped he would. So she crossed her arms and waited.

Smirking Draco laughed lightly to himself “impressive, you humans are more resourceful then I give you credit for..” continuing to smile Draco looked down at the lab and continued “well if you know so much about me, then you should also know if I die Vampires will flock here in thoughts of revenge, also you should know this whole time I have had them following me keeping an eye on where we were going, the only reason the have not attacked the building is because they know better than to disturb me…” then thinking back to the Giant man Grant, Draco clenched his hands in to fists, the man who killed is queen the only one who kept him from attacking the humans and the only one who said we can feed upon them but to kill them is wrong. In that time he had restraint, he felt that he still had some of his humanity left but when she had been killed, his humanity was lost to his, he became an animal, always thinking of his next meal always thinking of the best way to torcher his next victim.
But Shadow she reminded him of her, she made him think of his humanity, in the time he was a healer in the time he eased the minds of people who had lost their loved ones to creatures like the one he had become, all the family he had seen die, all the family that he himself had killed, there was so much pain he had caused and for what. The hunger, the need to feed upon sorrow of others, looking again to her he smiled and spoke in a low dark tone, “and what do I get out of it?” oh how he wanted her, the woman who reminded him of his queen, the woman who could fight for herself and the others who depend on her.

Faint Shadow put her hands up on her counter and with her back to it she jumped up and stared at him. "You want to know what you get out of the deal. Hmmm, lets see. I could say I wouldn't kill you but the vampires following you would make that an issue. See they aren't allowed to come into the building due to a magic spell that no creatures themselves can come in. You were with me and I under my breath spoke it at the right moment as we entered and bonus I'm human so that helps." She chuckles. "But, you want to know what you get out it. Hmmm, what do you want? I could give you anything your little undeadly heart wishes." She smiled at him. Of course there was something else she had in mind to though she didnt want to let him know that just yet. If he agreed then she would bring it up. Though she had never done it before she had heard of another that had. She was curious how it would feel and this one would be most powerful to do it with. It made her even a little excited but she had to play the waiting game. Of which she was good at so she just kept smiling at him.

Leaning forward he placed a hand on each side of her and looked her directly in the eye, she surely something of beauty, but then again so was his queen. It was hard for him to even thing about it for all she had taught him, for every human she asked him to spare. He would slaughter their race and burn their civilization to the ground, building by building he would hunt every last one of them and rid this city of their infection.
Taking a step back and glaring at her, thinking of his lost queen Draco spat on the ground in front of her “Humans and Vampire’s shall never have an Alliance” turning he faded out of site. Walking toward the window he turned to look at her one last time before leaving, to be spared by him would be enough of a triumph for cattle such as herself, opening the window Draco flung himself in to the night sky and reappeared as he spread his wings and flew away back toward his home a tear ran down his cheek, “Victoria” he whispered to himself speaking the name of his once beautiful queen.

Faint Shadow showed no fear as his hands were upon her. She just kept her smile as he glared. Looking into his eyes she felt lost. Even though there was darkess she saw something but she wasnt truly for sure what she saw and she wasnt sure if she liked what she saw either. Vampires like humans were unpredictable. All races were but she wanted him to "bite" sort of speak. When he walked away she was surprised. He walked over to the window. She got down off the counter and took a few steps towards him. When he opened the window and turned to look at her, she saw sorrow? Sadness? It was something.
When he went out the window she ran over to it. "Where the hell are you going? I'm not through with you! I have a deal for you! A part of me! Do you hear that? If you don't come back in then I will forget it!" She turned and looked over at her lab that was staring at her with his ears up and tilted head. "What? We need him!" She walked over to the couch and sat. The lab walked over to her and put his head on her leg. She hoped he heard her and would be curious enough to come back. This was the only way it would work. They had to have his help. They needed to be connected. Grant and the others hated the plan but understood. She had hoped when she saw him that he would be the one and he was. If only he would take the bait now.
