He glanced at her outstretched hand and a slight frown of confusion crossed his shadowed features. The simple human gesture had become almost alien to him and he relaxed instantly when he caught up and recognised it. He would have laughed at himself had he been alone. "Angel." He repeated the name, unconciously rubbing his palm against his thigh before shaking hands with her. Physical contact with a pretty girl who wasn't also homeless or a drug addict got him feeling more than a little self concious. "I'm Zach."
They stood apart again and he motioned with his hand. "Just a bit this way." As they walked through the park he kept his hands in his pockets and his head bent slightly towards the ground. Occassionally he glanced at her and took in more of her detail. She still looked shaken so he tried to inject a little harmless banter to try and raise her spirits.
"So uh... you ever had coffee with a strange homeless guy before?"

“Zack...” Angel paused and captured the name into her memory, “Nice to meet you.” A small smile curled the edges of her lips at his question. “With a strange person, yes, with a homeless guy, no… Have you ever chatted with a slightly mental case before?” she asked jokingly. It had been a long time since she had been called crazy, but it was a harmless accusation now. But the fem was sure that he had run across a few odd ducks in his life time. It was hard not to find a few in this day and age.
She too walked with her hands tucked neatly within the softness of her hoodie pockets. Not seeing the need to have her hood up she left it down. If someone saw her tired appearance, who cared? Angle also did not see the need to use the hood as a barrier between the demon and the outside world. She had another being with her, someone to catch and keep her attention. Which seemed to be helping the situation, she still seemed a little uneasy but it was much more comforting to have another person to talk to. Another REAL person to talk to.
Though she walked beside him, the moccasin boots muffled her steps so that there was almost no sound to her movements. A native trademark, the ability to glide across the ground and not leave a mark nor make a sound. It came in handy around a city like this one, made it easier to slip by troublesome spots without attracting any unwanted attention.
“So is the coffee at this café any good?”

Zack smiled at her comment about chatting with a mental case before but didn't offer any reply to that, truth was, the mental cases were the only ones he really got to have any kind of verbal communication with at all. Most decent sane folk just waved off his shabby homeless appearance or offered apologetic smiles and shook their heads silently as they rushed away when he asked if they could spare any change. It was his own tragic curse.
"No, it's crap. Though you'll find worse." Zack said with a quiet chuckle. "Though it's cheap and you get free refills."
As they headed through the park he started to get a prickly sensation on the hairs at the back of his neck, like they were being watched. His concerns were confirmed when three men dressed in dark clothes stepped under the light of one of the street lamps, like they had materialized out of the darkness. The lamp light gave their pale features an eerie glow.
"We don't want no trouble." Zack quickly said, recognising the vampires. They didn't usually bother with Zack unless they wanted to beat up on him... he guessed they must have been here for Angel.
The lead vampire smiled, a cold humourless gesture. "Who says we're trouble?" Black eyes peered at Angel. "Who's this pretty thing?"

Her senses had caught just a tingle of a warning bell in the back of her mind. She figured that was only because of the demonic being lurking around the shadows within. So she did not to look any further into it.
Angel gave a soft giggle to his comment upon the features of the cafes coffee. Yea, one could find a lot of horrible spots to indulge in the strong caffeinated beverage. "I can't be any worse than the complimentary coffee they give out at the library. That stuff is literally sludge." She wrinkled her nose and scrunched up he face at the thought of that horrid form of a liquid.
Then the warning bell began to go off a little louder, something was not right. The breast within squirmed, and her face gave a slight wince. That's when she Dawe them. The trio stepping from the shadows and into the lamp light. "Vampires." She whispered to herself taking a step back.
When Zack spoke up she looked from his face than to the group ahead of them. Their answer did not sound good, not in the slightest bit. Then they asked who she was. "None of your damned business." She's snipped quickly, before her brain kicked in and told her to keep her mouth shut. Again the evil spirit squirmed causing her to wince and cringe away from the pain that shot through her head.

At her spirited retort, the lead vampire smiled a shark-toothed grin that spread from ear to ear. "Ho, ho. Your girlfriend here's got balls." He said to Zack and then slowly approached her. "Perhaps I better rip them out of her."
Zack inserted himself slightly between Angel and the vampires. Fists clenched at his sides and jaw set with firm resolve. "I said we don't want no trouble, so why don't you just beat it?"
"It's been a slow night for food." The vampire sighed. "Lucky for us this woman was stupid enough to come wandering out in the night. We don't want you," He said to Zack. "But we'll kill you if you try to stop us taking her."
Zack remained where he was between the vampires and their chosen prey. He could feel a heat spreading through his core as anger started to boil in his gut...

When Zack moved to position himself between her and the vampire she childishly ducked behind him. She had been stupid enough to leave herself defense items at home. Being in such a hurry just to get out and get away. Now she was mentally kicking herself for being so naive. Again her face twitched as the demon squirmed this time seeming to push harder against her mental barriers. Before hand he could just slip his visions through without a problem. But this time was different. Pain shot through her temples as her hand rose quickly to cover them, trying to sooth the discomfort.
Then she felt it the spirit pushing again, even more so. It was more of a blast than a shove against her walls, and they shattered. Her eyes went blank, and her upper half seemed to jerk to the side. He had gained control. As her shoulders and head slumped forward, and her arms hung limply to her sides as a low growl emulated from the depths of her. “You can’t have her…” a voice deep and coarse came from her. The spirits, mixed with Angel’s voice. “She is mine!!” the sound snarled again.
Within the confines of her own mind Evangeline was trying to fight back to gain control. Trying to push the thing back to the edges where it had been haunting her from before. The effort was evident when Angel again reached up to grab her head, and forced eyes tightly shut. “No!” she cried and took a step back. ‘Not now! Not now!’ she kept thinking to herself, trying to pull herself together during a life or death situation.

(OOC: How twisted... love it!)
The vampires faltered for a moment. Smiles replaced by nervous glances at the sight of Angel being jerked about like some sick marionette. Even Zack's eyes turned to wide staring orbs at the momentary transformation.
"You aren't worth the effort." The lead vampire quickly decided, turning and vanishing into the night with his lackeys.
"Jesus Christ... are you alright?" Zack asked. He grabbed Angel by her shoulders and peered down at her face, his expression full of concern...

Her head pounded, as she quickly tried to mend her shattered barriers. Using what will power she had left. She was breathless, and ached as her body shook from the exhaustion that was finally catching up with her. Oh how she was tired. Tired of fighting and losing this battle. She was ready for sleep, ready to give into temptation and just close her eyes. But Angel couldn't, at least not yet.
"He broke through." She stated breathlessly. Her hands still clutched at her head. Hazel eyes stared up at him, though she knew he was there all she could really see through the headache was his blurry outline.
She gad heard the vampire's remark, but had not seen thier expressions. But the demon had. "p*ssies" the word slithered to her thoughts and she couldn't help but to give a small smile.
