"Hey!" Sam shouted after the rather strong willed woman but he was too late. She was already out the door before he could get out his warning. He sighed a bit and turned back to see her name written in his journal. He'd hoped that was a name that wouldn't come up "victim" soon. Sure she seemed a bit annoying, but it was the fun kind of annoying.
He took another sip of the coffee, taking note that it was about half-way done. With a slight sigh, he then turned to the other woman in the diner. Giving her that same polite smile, he nodded.
"Don't think I caught your name, ma'am."

She watched the woman ruffle her features, so to speak, and walk out the door. Some people were so touchy. That’s when her attention was pulled back to the individual who still remained within the café. The man whom she had been watching most of the time, Sam was the name he introduced himself as.
“Evangeline….Evangeline Huntington.” Mustering up as much guts as she could she stood up, grabbing her cup and walked over towards him. “Mind if I join you?” she asked motioning to an empty seat. She was going to try to figure out why this individual seemed to cause the hairs of the other realm to stand on end. They seemed more interested and cautious about him than angry or annoyed.

He waved his hand over the empty seat next to him with the same look upon his visage. He closed up his journal again and grabbed the coffee to take another sip.
"No reason for the both of us to sit here at opposite ends. By all means ma'am."

She sat down gently in the seat placing her cup upon the counter. She was contemplating her words, trying to find the best way to get some answers without being too nosey. Glancing back over her shoulder she looked towards the door that Elizabeth had disappeared through.
“She seemed pretty…Unsettled.” Angel stated in a polite tone, just stating her observation.
“I do not mean to pry.” She paused glancing back to the gentleman. “But this case I overheard you two speaking of…It was quiet recent I take it. Possibly only a couple hours ago?” She was attempting to seem interested in the thought of crime happening so close without even knowing it. But there was more on her mind. Especially when other voices were probing to get answers as well.

Sam seemed a tad unsettled at the mention of his current case. He rubbed his forehead and sighed a little. Thoughts welled up in his mind before he stared into the black coffee as though answers resided in the liquid. It would be then, however, he'd just shake his head.
"No, been an on going thing for a few months. Human's, good honest people winding up dead in the street at night. Most don't go out at night, but these seemed like the kind of people that would just know better. Smart folk. Nothing about the case is making sense to me either. It's seemingly random, no connection between victims, no message, no motive. All I've got is that it's a demon of some kind from the way the bodies are always marked. No robbery angle to it either. The scene I just came from happened, oh, about six hours ago. Police didn't even seem to bother to clean up very well."
He smirked at that last comment. Police in this city write up plenty of things to random attacks on people that shouldn't be out. The obvious, it would see, would go straight over their heads. At least that's how it felt to Sam.

She froze at the mention of the lastest case. A fresh soul. That is what had the others talking. They seemed to know something, or someone was there. But was not sure why or how. The poor being was still too faint too fresh to make itself well known. "It’s following him.” She whispered more to herself than to anyone else. She ran her finger tip along the edge of her mug, seeming lost in thought.
If there was more than one murder than those spirits must have stayed close to the crime scene. But seeing as this one happened so close it was following him. Trying to find protection, and safety. Probably unsure and scared. ‘The poor thing.’ She thought to herself.
“Seems like a long drawn out process.” She took a sip of her coffee. “And not even a since as to whom or which demon it could be?” Angel glanced at him, watching his features. The few ghosts that had been with her the whole time once again were muttering to each other.

He shook his head once more, finding himself giving nothing but good news.
"Nope, there's nothing whatsoever. The only lead I have now is a necklace."
With that he pulled the necklace from his pants. The golden chain was small, without a doubt a lady's necklace. The diamond wreathed with gold set shimmering the the diner's lights as it dangled from Sam's hand. He stared at it, finally being able to get a good look at it, trying to find a name or number on it but having no luck. Twisting his face a bit, he sighed and set it on the counter.

She watched as he pulled the necklace out of his pocket, and the muttering went quiet. She could tell they had stopped to stare at the dangling jewelry. She watched as he examined it for a moment before setting the gold piece down. This case really seemed to be bothering him. Almost eating away at him. Slowly she slid her hand over to the item and gently wrapped her fingers about the diamond piece. A vision flooded her mind. A panicked scream, a horrid growl like laughter, running, panting, heart racing, pain. As if the necklace burned her she let go and snatched her hand away, and placed her other hand upon her head.
“It’s following the necklace.” She stated as pieces fell more so into place. Her curiosity towards Sam finally beginning to be subdued. Now it was more focused on pulled the being attached to the piece of jewelry out into the open so that it could be addressed, and spoken to. Clues might be uncovered. But she wasn’t going to push her luck. At any instant the soul could dart back to the alley way, and never return without going back there and demanding it come forth.

He watched her with a slightly curious look as she suddenly pulled her hand away from the necklace. That certainly wasn't the reaction get from jewelry unless you just heard the price. He looked back down at the necklace trying to piece together in his head just what it meant. There wasn't anything of particular interest over the necklace other than it costing quite a bit because of the gold and the diamond. The woman's words started to burn into his mind.
He took it from the counter and finished up his coffee, pocketing the piece. With a slight heft of his body from the stool, he stood up and brought out his wallet. Placing the money for the coffee and a tip on the table, he looked back to her.
"Evangeline, nice name, Angel in fact. But I'm sure you knew that. Are you going to be around at all during the day tomorrow?"

She watched him heave himself off the stool. Angel figured he would not stay long. But that’s normal for people of business. Either that or she scared him. Either way her mind was slightly more at ease than when he first walked through the door. She gave a slight smile as he stated her nickname.
“Evangeline, Angel. Whichever. My mother calls me Light Eyes. But that’s a long story.” She paused as she thought of her daily plans for tomorrow. “I’ll be around town if that’s what you’re asking. I work a couple blocks over.”
She would not state that she worked in the adult pub down that block. He did not need to know her occupation. That was her choice, and no one else’s. Plus she was part of the security there, so she felt more important than just a dancer.
“Nice meeting you Sam.” She stated taking another sip of her brew as her form relaxed back into her normal posture. Now that the spirits were not prodding her to get answers for them. She could enjoy the rest of her coffee in peace.

He smiled as he picked up his journal and wandered towards his coat and hat. Putting them on he nodded to her response to his question and looked out the door, taking note the rain let up a bit. He'd hoped Elizabeth made it out all right.
"I'll find you, don't worry. I get the feeling I might need you over the old lady anyway. Take care out there, would hate to have you in my journal."
With that he pushed the door open again as it jingled and made his way down the street towards his office. He was a few blocks down but he didn't mind. The walk would help as he thought about the cast of characters and wondered just how they would all come to help him. He didn't believe in fate, but he did believe in the perfect coincidence as well as the law of averages. You stop into a diner enough times and eventually you'll meet some interesting people.

The rain was really starting to get to her. All her work, and not to mention that her mood was ruffled a little, but by the time she got to her house she wrote off as some semi brilliant man trying to make himself feel better. OK that is a lie, he was totally brilliant worth her respect.
Elizabeth finally reached her house after a thirty minutes walk. Finishing out her keys she head into her two story house. The downstair had one and half bathroom and a small little kitchen area but the rest was her home lab. She was the only person at her job who was that dicated to her job. Picking up cases here and there that nobody else want she bring them home to work on. She video tape everything she does so that her bosses can't argue with her.
The upstair, had two bedroom a bathroom a fully kitchen area and a living room. She love this house so much. Reaching voer she turn on the lights to the lab. Placing her bag on the center island. She worked on fishing out her files and see if the pictures could be saved.
Pulling her hair up into a bun, she pulled off her wet shirt and toss on a clean robe. She began to open her Alexandar's file. Alexandar's Curiass... a client sought her out. He wanted to understand if this was the real thing. So far everything she found said yes, but was un ease with a few of the information she found. She decided to hold off her result to see if she could find more.
This beautiful armor had a very bloody and weird past. Apparently there was a necklace that use to go with it. Well not so much a necklace more of an Amulet. Pure gold, which is common at the time, with white diamonds embeded in it. It was the diamonds that was rare for that area.
Cleaning off the photos, she smiled seeing that they were safe in sound. "Good... I am glad. I don't have to recieve the item just yet." She push herself over and begin to turn on her computer. She would have to reprint everything. It was going to be a long night and she wouldn't have time to crash for too long before she would have to head into work.

Sam jerked awake, bleary-eyed and confused. He wasn't sure where he was until the world decided to come into focus for him. His office. He'd fallen asleep again at his desk. He rubbed his eyes with a groan, reaching for a cigarette until he saw the diamond necklace sitting next to his pack and lighter. Within the papers strewn across his desk and books open and littering the ground it offered contrast from the glinting diamond. The dim light coming from the drawn blinds making it throw blues and greens about.
He picked up his cigarettes and jammed one into his mouth, lighting it and sitting back. Jewelers. They'd be the first people to see if this thing had been sold anywhere around the area. Could be a lead with any luck into the victim herself. The seventh in a town that kept walking by with eyes front. Smoke filled the room as he exhaled it staring towards the ceiling, his tired brown eyes focusing on nothing in particular.
He let out a grunt, getting himself up onto his knees as they crackled and groaned from having been tucked under his chair all night as he slept. He mumbled to himself as he gathered the things he would need before he was out the door. Throwing his blazer on along with his hat, he made his way down stairs in the dimly lit stairwell of the building he inhabited. Unoccupied upstairs rooms above cleaners always meant he didn't go far for clean laundry after all.
He would begin his trek down the street, the sun out and the sidewalks full. Jamming his hands into his pants pocket, he felt for the necklace to make sure he had it before he'd plod on to continue his case.

Elizabeth looked at the clock. Her eyes were so groggy that she could barely make out the number even with her glasses. Brush her hair back behind her ear, she gathered up the last bit of her files. Over eight hours and she finally got everything done. She took one last glance at the drawing of the necklace that was said to have gone with the armor. "Where could you be?" she whispered.
Her bag which was now dry, she put in all the new files. Grabbing an energy drink and a cup of coffee she rush out to get her motor-cycle and head to class before work. Maybe if she is lucky she can past out in class and wake up feeling human enough to deal with the idiots at her work. Here's to hoping!!

Sam grumbled as he stepped out of the third jewelry shop in a row. Jamming a cigarette into his mouth, he fumbled for his lighter before he lit the cigarette. Taking a long drag, he sighed and looked around the city street before walking in a random direction. At least it seemed random, that's when he saw the diner and took note that he remembered what the woman from last night had said.
She mentioned working a few blocks away from the place, now he'd just have to figure out where exactly. This should be fairly easy.
