The war had been raging on for decades in this God forsaken world. Amira's godfather called in Damnatus which is Latin for Damned. Amira called it H-trae which was a different reality of what many humans called Earth. No creature was allowed to venture to the human realm, even though many have tried. She, herself, wanted the chance to lay her eyes on a world that wasn't consumed by monsters that tried killing each other any chance they got. It sounded to good to be true. But, for now, she would remain here. In Red Blood City. Where the sun never shined and the moon was as deep a red as her own blood coursing through her veins. Because she was known as The Chosen One and the savoir to end the war between the vampires and the werewolves. She was a hybrid of both worlds. However, to her it will forever be her curse.
Amira was on patrol in one of the many werewolf clan territories when she heard a blood curdling scream. The hybrid froze in her tracks listening intently. Her super ultrasonic hearing lead her to a warehouse just outside the territory limits. She stopped to look back, briefly wondering if she should rush back to get some back up. However, when the scream echoed through the warehouse again, Amira realized she didn't have time. If she wanted to save whoever it was she had to act now.
Amira reared back and kicked opened the doors. Her super strength caused the heavy wooden doors to fall off their hinges. When she entered her eyes scanned her surroundings, horrified by the scene before her. There was a group about 5 male vampires taking turns sexually assaulting a small little blonde girl. The young girl couldn't be more than fifteen years old. Amira was sickened by the sight. She had to stop at nothing until that girl was safe. "Hey Corpse Suckers, how about a real challenge?"
The vampires turned their attention towards the door. If they were human Amira could swear the blood would have drained from their faces. It was nice to see them so fearful of her. It made her feel powerful. "Listen, I'll be gracious this time. Why don't you just save yourself an ass beating and let her go, yeah? You can tell the other parasites there was a great battle and but it was to much...or whatever you want. I don't care. I just want her."
One of the vampires stepped forward. Amira wondered if he was the leader or the second in command. He didn't strike her as a leader type with his long dark hair, a go-tee and a scar above his left eye. The black t-shirt he wore had some kind of weird symbol that Amira hadn't seen before. She filed that away for later. And his jeans were torn at the knees which told her he didn't give a sh*t about what she wanted.
Go-tee vamp smirked as he said, "This is our terf. You have no right to be here hybrid. Go back to your pack with your tail between your legs like the good little b*tch you are."
Amira's expression was unreadable. "I'll give you one last chance. Let her go or you're dust."
Go-tee vamp took another step toward Amira while the other 4 held onto the girl. "I'm going to enjoy you screaming my name, b*tch."
Amira smirked. "Just try not to get all over me. I hate when the dust gets in my hair. It's so hard to get out."
Go-tee vamp growled, "Come on, b*tch. I'm waiting."
"Fine, let's just get this over w..." Amira was suddenly interrupted by shadow figure that stood off to her right. Were they there to help her or was this a new player that entered the game to make her life even harder? Amira's only goal was to get the girl somewhere safe. That is where she needed to set her focus. Not on the new comer. Even though their voice was soothing to her. Focus Amira, she told herself. Steady. You got this.

fantasy1987.proboards.com/thread/223/devin-remastered(Character Reference)"Hello Amira, It's been a while" Devin landed so softly next to Amira you wouldn't have even known he was there if you didn't see him. His long black hair moved gently behind him and on his face an equally gentle smile as he looked forward to the lowborn in front of him. "Never a boring time with you is it? You really should take a vacation. With all the friends you have in High, and low places. You have an army of allies at your back. Not to mention." He smiled "Old friends."He ran his hand through his hair moving it from in front of his face and a pair of brilliant blue eyes like crystal shown forth. They looked like flawless blue Topaz shining as bright as they did and then suddenly like a storm crashing down they faded from blue to an intense red as he never lost that smile. "I had a nice slumber, but it would seem that these leaches and the screams would wake me from that slumber. I'm a little famished, and you..."He pointed to one of the vampires near the back. "You look like just the right thing to put a pep in my step. I am so very thirsty and luckily, I can drink even from a vampire and gain back my youth." He bowed low sweeping his arm across his waist and when his head lifted his fangs could be seen. The dance was about to begin.

Amira turned her attention towards the ancient vampire that now stood beside her. Her long jet black hair swaying behind her. She moved the one red strain behind her ear as she smirked at Devin. It was nice to see him again after all this time. "I thought I sensed someone near but I never dreamed it would be you. I'm always delighted to see you, Devin." She thought about his words a moment with having an army behind her this would have been easy but sometimes she still liked to go at it alone. These days were a little lonely for her. But, now that would soon change with Devin now here. She was happy about that.
She turned her attention toward the vampires as Devin pointed to one. The young vamp looked scared beyond words.
The vampire with the go-tee took a few steps backwards holding up his hands he said to Devin, "Look you can have the meat sack. We don't want any beef with you."
"I'll say it again. Let her go," Amira demanded.
"Yeah, sure. Anything you say," Go-tee stammered. He motioned to his buddies behind him and they let her go. She staggered over to Amira and fell to her knees in front of her.
Amira knelt down, taking the girl in her arms. She looked drugged and she had bite marks on her neck. They had fed from her too. Amira looked up at Devin and growled, "They're all yours." Any vampire that fed from any humans were dead corpses walking. They didn't deserve to exist.
Go-tee turned to his buddies and yelled, "Run!" They started to rush toward the back of the building where another door stood. They had to escape before they forced into oblivion.

It was far to late for that. Like a shadow that wasn't there Devin had already started to move the moment the girl left their reach. They turned to run and Devin was standing there. His eyes like a predator he looked into what would have been the soul of the individual in front of him and Devin smiled as he pulled the man's heart out of his chest like a magician and showed it to him. "How very heartless of you....Hurting a young girl" The man's face was that of shock and despair as the heart, His heart, crumbled to dust and immediately after..So did he.
One of the vamps actually swung at him, The younger one he had threatened actually had the bravery, or enough fear to attack someone much, much older than himself. Devin looked a little surprised as the runt's claws went across his face and blood fell to the floor. Devin fell back to the floor and the young vamp cried out."Look guys! He wasn't that strong! All those things we heard must have been a rumor and lies! Immortal my ass!"
At that moment of hope and bravado, the young vampire looked to his comrades and all he saw was ash falling from the sky...it was snowing. The look of happiness and smug pride quickly left his face and he turned back only to stare into the eyes of death itself. The young vampire couldn't move, he screamed in his head for his legs to take him far away from there and nothing happened.
"Follow my eyes young one...You can't be more than a few weeks old. You were just turned weren't you?" Looking into the eyes of this ancient vampire was like looking into the sun. It was beautiful and something he hadn't seen in what seemed like forever and yet to look too long is to lose your sight and in this case, His life as well. He did as Devin said. He was unable to look away and Devin didn't even have to touch him. Before he knew it he was standing in front of the Hybrid and the young girl that his "friends" were playing with. He hadn't the heart to drink from her, he was too new and nervous to "play" with her.
"Amira...this one is new and.. Devin leaned in and smelled near his neck and face and all the while the kid couldn't move. "Innocent...He hasn't tasted blood yet, at least not blood that was from anything but a blood bag it seems."Devin turned his back to the boy and looked to the little girl and kneeled next to her like Amira had and he looked into her eyes as if asking for permission to help, His voice would be heard within her head as gentle and as sweet and calming as vanilla and velvet with a cup of hot cocoa to boot.
Devin was looking at the girl and assuring her within her own mind using his dark gifts that everything was going to be okay and she was safe now. Meanwhile, as he did that he too was having a conversation with Amira."The boy could be left alive to deliver a message to the higher-ups..When he leaves we could follow him and find the one in charge, at the very least we could find the one who sired the boy."

Amira kept the young girl pressed against her so she couldn't see what was happening. No need to traumatize her any further then she was. When the dust had settled and Devin walked over to her with the young vamp. Amira started to pull away but the young girl hugged her tighter. "It's okay. I'm not going to leave you here. I promise." The girl was shaking with fear but nodded. Amira stood and smiled when Devin knelt down to her. The girl looked up at her but Amira nodded that it would be okay.
Amira then turned her attention to the young vampire before her. Devin was right. She didn't smell the young girl on him and he didn't smell of blood.
Suddenly she heard Devin's voice echoing in her mind. "The boy could be left alive to deliver a message to the higher-ups..When he leaves we could follow him and find the one in charge, at the very least we could find the one who sired the boy."
Amira looked from the vamp to Devin. She was about to speak out loud but stopped herself. In her mind she thought, "I had forgotten about that little trick of yours. It still amazes me I can hear you in my head. I still hadn't mastered it fully myself. Maybe you can teach me sometime." Amira noted then, "I think that would be a good idea for him to lead us there so we can take care of his sire. But first we need to make sure this girl is taken to a safe place."

"There is no need to put the boy in danger so I'll convince him to follow us in the shadows. Even though he is young he should have been shown how to at least be able to blend with the shadows and keep a low profile. He nodded at the thought of making sure the girl was taken care of and of course agreed. He stood and moved to the side of Amira and gave a reassuring smile to the girl and as he looked to her his eyes went back to their beautiful Topaz color and she smiled as she felt heavy. She slowly closed her eyes and gently fell asleep in the arms of Amira. Devin looked to Amira after the girl was asleep and he spoke normally.
"It would be a good thing that she sleeps and regain her strength and if you are okay with it I can have her wake up later in her own bed thinking this nothing more than a dream. It would be a small blessing that my dark gifts could offer." Devin looked away from the girl and looked to the boy. "You will follow us and keep hidden. I know that you were part of this group because you were pressured and they probably even threatened you...However, your actions will not be forgiven. But, they can be redeemed. If you can do as I ask, follow us then lead us to the one who turned you I may have just the way you can brighten your future...You are of course free to choose your own path but I promise you. If you choose a path that leads to pain and death then you will ultimitly end up one day meeting her or myself again and you won't be walking away from the encounter, Do you understand?"
The boy swallowed hard and nodded quickly. He couldn't believe that a new vampire like himself was standing in the presence of not only the Chosen One but Dracula himself. Well...he may not have been named Dracula but it was a theory that was going around. Their were whispers of the name Merric and how that vampire was thought to be the oldest and most powerful of the vampiric race. That name was lost to time and many centuries later a new Vampire hit the scenes having similar strengths and powers. There is much speculation but to the younger vampires Merric/Devin is a legend and like geeks with comic books they admire and whisper his praises while the older vampires make fun of, abuse, and even kill the younger ones who so much as speak his name. Devin knew all of this but never gave any indication of any of it being true or even if it was wrong. For the most part, he ignored it.
He walked to the door to the warehouse and reached out to it. His hand stopped at it only an inch away and a smile came to his face. "Your getting good at that....Jiles." A voice spoke up from behind Devin coming from the shadow between him and Amira and out walked an older-looking man with glasses, a tight beard, and what looked to be a butler's outfit. "There is no sneaking on you sir." Jiles bowed and then looked to Amira and gave her a bow as well. "A pleasure to meet the savior of the city, your reputation proceeds you, Miss." Devin tilted his head to the side and motioned to the door. Jiles then walked to it and graciously opened it for Devin and the ladies and on the other side where there was no vehicle before there now sat an all black Rolls-Royce with tinted windows to match.
Jiles spoke up as he walked to the car and opened the suicide doors(Backward opening doors) "I figured the master would want to move around in comfort and with the ladies and the extra gentleman it would make sense that we take the car to drop off sleeping beauty." [/u] Devin almost let out a chuckle. "Always a step ahead Jiles. With a bow Jiles simply said. "It is why I am one hell of a butler and nothing less can be expected, especially for you sir." Devin waved him off and motioned for the ladies and even for the young vampire. "Mind the blood on the leather...even though they are both red, Jiles will be cranky all day if they are sullied." Devin waited for everyone to get in and then with a wink to Jiles he got in the back with the others, Jiles closed the doors and they were off.

Amira agreed to everything and was secretly happy that Devin was there. She would never admit her out lout her crush for him but maybe on some level she believed he knew. That being said she would gladly carry the girl. That was until she heard another voice. "Jiles," She said happily. He smiled at her and turned to his master. She listened at they spoke. When Jiles opened the warehouse door to reveal the car she was glad she didn't have to carry the girl the whole way.
As Amira gentle laid the girl across her lap she took note that the young vampire took the seat across from her. He looked scared and unsure. Maybe it was time to get some answers from him. "I know you fell into a rough crowed, not by choice, and we are giving you a fresh start. Tell me, what is your name?"
The young vampire shifted uncomfortably under the intense gaze of both the elder creatures. "Well, I, um..." his voice drifted as he swallowed hard. He was prepared for this. He'd never dreamed he'd be in this type of situation. What should he say? He looked to Devin and he could tell the elder wanted him to speak the truth. If he didn't then the elder would eat him for dinner and that would be the end of it. Taking a deep breath - even though he didn't need to but being turned just recently it was still something his human mind still did - he said, "My name is H - Hunter."
Amira tilted her head, "Is that your human name?"
Hunter shook his head shyly and said, "Y-Yes."
Amira looked over at Devin and smirked. "They didn't give him a warrior's name yet." Then she thought, "They are very disorganized. Easy for us to infiltrate." That was a pleasing thought. It seemed it would be easy for them to take out the nest with just the two of them. Maybe she would still tell Ardolf what was going on just in case things should go south. Never hurts to have a back up plan.

" Hunter is more than good enough to be a warrior's name, Perhaps it's why they hadn't given him one yet." Jiles spoke up from the front while driving. "The master speaks the truth young sir, It is a fine name. With a name like that you should be doing more than falling in line and being around such simple thugs." The car turned without anyone saying anything and he started to drive down a slightly nicer part of the city where the suburbs were located.
"You should count yourself lucky, The master's eyes are very keen, and if you were not killed immediately then that means he saw something in you. Not just anyone would be able to stay their hand with so little as a glance to tell a stranger's character." Devin looked to the rearview mirror meeting the eyes of Jiles who was already looking back at him expectantly. "You sing my praises too often Jiles." Jiles smiled lightly and nodded only to speak back. " It is impossible for me to speak to highly of you sir for the praise that has been given is nowhere near good enough. I shall endeavor to rectify the problem, Sir."
Devin sighed lightly having been once again verbally beaten by Jiles and his butler said nothing more for a while as they drove on. The car's tires went through a slight puddle and light bump and all while Devin looked out the window lost in thought as he usually was in these types of situations. The silence was broken however as the car came to a stop slowly in front of a nice house that looked to have no one home as all the lights were off.
"We have arrived Sir and there doesn't seem to be any Hooligans in the area, not for a couple of miles and those I saw didn't seem to have anything to do with that small group that was dispatched." Devin opened his door and closed it and the moment it latched he was opening Amira's side pulling the door back like they were in a carriage and had arrived at the estate. "I know you wanted to get the door Jiles but we are on a schedule. We can't keep our hosts waiting in their warehouse or where ever they may be." Jiles nodded having already resigned himself to needing to wait since there was no way he was going to outpace Devin, Even if there had been times when he tried.
Devin motioned and waited, wondering if Amira would want to take her inside or if she would have him do it. Either way, he had opened the door and was patiently waiting. He reached out to offer his hand and as he did he guided Amira out of the car then without warning he brushed his hand gently across the cheek of the young girl and like a brush of the wind all the cuts and bites and marks, even the blemishes and rips in the clothing all vanished and for a second had appeared on Devin. He gave the slightest twitch at the corner of his mouth and bared a fang for a second. His eyes went from that topaz color to Bright red and quickly all of the marks vanished from him just as quickly.
He looked at Amira and saw the expression and nodded lightly feeling like he needed to explain. "It is a transference of sorts. I took everything bad from her and took it unto myself. That, coupled with a little mind alteration and she will think all this is nothing more than a dream. I even took the liberty and made this dream a good one where she gets to meet two "white" knights who saved her from some evil men before anything uncouth had even happened."
"It is just like you sir to selflessly take the pain, torment, and mental trauma from a person you don't even know," Jiles said while now standing next to the car waiting at the doors to allow Amira and Devin back in once they were done putting the young sleeping beauty back into her bed. "Jiles will be watching over her for a few nights to make sure they don't know where she lives and once it's considered safe then she will be free to live her life as she wishes with no interference from us." Jiles only nodded to that in agreement and continued to wait patiently.

Amira smiled as she listened to Jiles and Devin bicker back and forth like an old married couple. It was a nice change of pace to be in the company of friends that respect each other so highly and Jiles getting the last word was even better. When the car fell silent, Amira looked over at Devin and watched him for a moment. His beautiful lilac eyes scanning the streets as they drove. She knew he was watching and listening for any signs of them being followed. He was defiantly a wise and trusted protector. Amira felt completely safe with him. She trusted him with her life.
She looked down when the young girl shifted in her arms, whimpering softly. Amira softly shhhing her as she gently ran her fingers through the young girls hair. It was devastating to see her in so much pain, Amira didn't know what to do. She recalled Devin mentioning something about it but Jiles took her attention away and she couldn't recall what he said he'd do for her. Amira was about to ask when they came to a stop in front of a large home. It was one that Amira passed by a few times in her travels but never entered. She defiantly wanted to see the inside.
Amira reached for the door handle and was greeted with Devin opening it for her. She smiled at him, a gentleman till the end. Amira looked over at Hunter and said, "I want you to stay in the car. Don't get out. Don't move from that spot. Understood?"
Hunter nodded as he stammered, "Y-Yes, I u-understand."
"Good, lad," she replied before scooting across the seat and being helped out by Devin.
Amira still held the young girl in her arms. She felt like the girl was her responsibility and that no harm will ever befall the young girl again under her care. She'd make damn sure of that. However, that list grew when she watched in amazement when Devin waved his hand over the girls cheek and suddenly all her wounds had vanished. It was unlike anything she'd witnessed before. Sure she could heal herself and maybe a little cut on someone's hand but nothing compared to what Devin just did.
As Amira looked at Devin in shocked surprised she winced when she saw the cuts and bruising appear on his body. Although as quickly as they appeared they vanished and he looked like his old self once more. Still that little trick looked painful. One that Amira still admired him for. "Thank you," she said softly. "I'm sure that wasn't easy to take on but your selflessness to help this human is one of the reasons I l...er, I mean...Why I look up to you." Amira blushed for a fraction of a second and quickly moved passed the elder vampire towards the door of the home.
When she entered it was breath takingly beautiful with a grand staircase leading up to the second floor. The floors were slick and clean. The furniture was covered with white cloth but she could tell it was well kept. It was the home of her dreams. Amira always desired to have a place like this of her own. She never just took one because she was good person. Even in a hell hole like this place. Still it would have been nice to wake up here.
Amira turned as she heard the door close and Devin smirking at her. She smiled back as she asked, "This place is amazing, Devin. I can't believe...is it yours?"

He spoke gently as he looked around.
"its a summer home of sorts. Owned by the Cross family. They allow me to use it if I am in the area. A Cleaning crew comes every other week to clean and maintain the place while I am away. To my knowledge there are no living members of the Cross family to date. Other than Jiles of course." Devin smiled. "You are too kind my master, I can hardly claim the title of living anymore sir."
Devin looked to him eyes glowing and he spoke sincerely. "Even demons are capable of lives Jiles, or are you saying that I have not lived this whole time?" Jiles bowed and then straightened up. "You win this time sir. I concede." Devin pointed and looked to Amira. "That way lies the west wing. There you will find the staff quarters and garden outside and above the family rooms." He then pointed East. "Ground floor has the pool at the end with dinning room separating and above it you have the suits and my room and study." He pointed up the stairs. "Upstairs between the twin stairs cases through the double door is the Library and under it the entrance to the ball room and after it the path outside to the stables."
He looked into her eyes. "You are free to put her in any room you like even mine, since I don't use it often." He looked to Jiles. "Clear it with her family and use discretion of course. The young princess is our guest and should be taken care of." Jiles nodded and spoke lightly. " I shall go through the proper channels sir and of course a stipend will be sent for her and her family." Devin nodded and looked to Amira.
"Your free to wander where ever you wish. I shall be back momentarily." He slowly faded into the shadows and gave her one last smile before he was completely gone.

"Thank you, Devin," Amira replied softly. She watched as Devin disappeared into the shadows and she found herself once again amazed by his abilities. When she was alone she looked down at the young girl still asleep in her arms before looking up at the stairs. Amira decided that one of the suits would be best.
So, she started to climb and soon stopped in front of a white door with a gold doorknob. She opened the door and switched on the light and was taken back by the beautiful suite she found herself standing in. The flooring was made of kind of oak wood, white walls and blue rugs with drapes to match. The bed was was wood with a white canopy draped around it, along with a blue comforter with white sheets and blue pillowcases. There was white nightstand tables on either side with laps sitting on top. It also had a sitting area with 2 blue velvet chairs and a couch, all facing a glass coffee table.
Amira was in awe about how glamorous this room was and wondered about how the rest of the mansion looked. She really wanted to explore it. With that in mind she moved carefully over to the bed and gently laid the young girl down. Amira lightly moved the hair from in front of the girls face, smiling at her. "You're safe now," Amira said softly. "No harm will ever befall you again. I promise." With that she back out of the room and slowly closed the door as to not wake the sleeping beauty from her slumber. Rest was the best thing for her now. Well, for humans anyway.
Amira turned and started to walk down the hallway which was illuminated by light from the chandeliers above. The floor was hard wood that matched the floor in the suite she had just been in. However, it was also covered in a beautiful soft carpet that had a flower kite pattern to it. She loved the different colors within it. The blue background with the darker pink tone for the roses and petals, and green for the stems and leaves. Amira watched the carpet as she walked. It was stunning.
After a few more feet she found herself at the end of the hall, standing in front of a lone door. She looked around, not knowing if she would find someone to stop her from entering. When she found she was still very much alone she turned toward the door and placed her hand on the doorknob. With a twist of her hand the door opened and she stepped inside.
The room was dark even after Amira switched on the light. She walked in and started to look around. It wasn't like the suite. This had a darker feel to it but not like a fearful one. Amira smiled at herself when she realized this must be Devin's room. She walked over to the bed and laid down. Looking up at the ceiling she wondered how many partners he'd had in this bed. She shook her head because really it wasn't her place. f*ck, why was she even curious of such things? It wasn't like he ever showed her any interest in the past. Maybe it was due to the other men she was with at the time? She found herself mostly with humans in the past so maybe he didn't think he was her type?
Amira let out a heavy sigh and said aloud, "Maybe its just me being to damn subtle."

"Just one Partner." Devin looked to her from the door, his eyes scanned her carefully as his face showed nothing, almost an absence of emotion while he looked at her. After a second he walked in and took a seat on a wooden chair of black wood and ornate design, honestly the chair looked like it could be a throne. He pulled it away from a large ornate desk that was just as stunning and he turned it around, sat on it, and leaned back as it faced her. If she sat up they would be sitting looking at one another from eye to eye.
"When I was a man, human I mean. I had one other partner, a girl who thought she knew what she wanted and ended up stabbing my younger self in the back." Devin's eyes without him meaning to, gave off a slight red glow while in this dark room like a predator looking at its next meal.
"She went behind my back and had an affair with a friend of mine long ago. Needless to say that relationship ended and I then at my darkest met her."
Devin pointed at a painting on the wall that was across the room and the sheet that was hanging on it slowly slid and shown the one behind. A beautiful woman with reddish hair and a shapely figure and a smile to melt ice.
"Angelina...Angel for short...I called her my Angel. My mate...She was a human for most her life and then fate took her from me, I was cursed to live as this, and she was made into her name's sake, An angel. "
He looked back to Amira and a single tear of blood was coming from his right eye yet he didn't bother to wipe it away. "The gods saw to it that she would be reincarnated in another form. Every couple hundred years she is brought back to me and I feel it every time. Her soul calls to me and even if she doesn't know me I know her. I have found her each time and I have loved her each time only to inevitably lose her again.
Devin looked directly into the eyes of Amira and leaned forward as he had his hands together balled up under his chin as though lost in thought. "it's been 300 years this time and still I wait, it has gone on longer than it ever has and I worried that she won't come back. My not showing interest in you has nothing to do with your looks, for you are stunning...My uninterest is because I am waiting for her and only her. I'm sure among your suitors you have one that calls to you? If you can't think of one I am not judging you for you are half beast and a beast like that is not so easy to control. Your at war with yourself, one life of wolf and on of bat and a heart that yearns for humanity. "
Devin stood up and looked back to the painting of his love of a hundred life times and with a subtle gesture he returned the cloth and hid her away again. "Forgive me, I did not mean to bring down the mood. I am mysterious and sometimes I am as easy to read as a book, you need only find the right page."

Amira sat up startled by the voice answering her. She wasn't expecting Devin so soon let alone hear her. "I...uh..." she trailed off as she listened to Devin's story of heartache. It was clear to her then why she was drawn to him. Devin was human before. That made a lot of since. Why didn't she realize that before now though? She pushed that question off until later.
Amira got off the bed and walked over to Devin, placing her hand gently on his arms. "She's beautiful," Amira said softly. "I do hope one day you are reunited with her." Amira felt bad for her actions. She didn't want him to think poorly of her. "I do have a few connections to past loves," she said as her gaze drifted off. "One human I still miss after all this time. His name was Chris Black. He was an investigator. Seemed my name came up a lot in his files and his mission was to track me down." Amira chuckled softly to her self of their first encounter. She had woken up in Chris's own apartment on his couch. He had saved her from something. A human saving a monster. It was unheard of in their world.
"When Chris found me it seemed I had fallen unconscious and he saved me. ME. Of all people or creatures. When I came to I was in his apartment on his couch. He was staring at me. I didn't feel threatened. Mostly fantasied that a human would risk his own life. It seemed he wanted to join me in my quest to save this damned world. He didn't have a true reason as to why he wanted too. He only stated that he had the urge to help. Who was I to say no?" She smiled to herself. "His fighting skills needed a little work and I helped him with that but his aim with a gun was spot on. I wasn't even that good." Amira's smile faded away as the happy memories slowly faded away. "Unfortunately he vanished like a buff of smoke. I don't know where he went. I've been looking but its been a few years now."
Amira looked at Devin with a sadness in her eyes she'd promised herself she wouldn't ever show to anyone. But, Devin was a kindred spirit. They were two haves of a coin and were incomplete without their other half. "I'm sorry for my thoughts and actions toward you. I didn't mean any harm. Even with having so many in my pack, I still feel empty. Like a part of me has been missing and I've been trying to find it. I guess it took you to help me see that."

"Come on... you can do it little bud!!!" a voice whispered. Creamy pale hands with black nail polish reaching out and gently stroke emerald green leaves. "Come on... you can do it." the voice cooed as if talking to a baby. Sighing the figure pulled her hands away. "Gonna be stubborn, huh?" She chuckle. "It is a beautiful night to bloom... the world is dying to see you. Well, maybe not the world, but I am." She closes her eyes as she tried to will the plant to bloom. "Fine, fine... you win!!! I will only do this once, and then you need to do it on your own." the voice spoke. The figure stands up and picked up the water pale next to her and moved it over and came back to the stubborn rose bush. She crotch next to it again and bring her hands to surround the small bud. She begin to recite the cantation she has done so many times. She felt the energy begin to gather in between her hands. She used her will and force nature start to bend to her desire. She watch as if time started to fast forward and the bud started to show sign of growing and blooming. She smiles "See... you can do it." She purred. She feel the warm sensation as her magic continued to pour out from her hands. Her jade eyes sparked with joy as the rose finish blooming. She let her hands dropped away from the plant. "You are so beautiful!" She whispered as she admired the blood red roses. The Cross family is one of the few places she knew that had these special roses that can grow in these conditions. She smiled as her hands brushed up against her blue-jeans. She looked around to see if any other plants need her attention. She carefully stepped around the rose bush to head to the bench. As she moved she felt a tug on her loose fitting cotton shirt. She signs and turned and looked at the white rose bush gripping her shirt. "Well that is rude..." She said and signed as she picked the thorny branch from her shirt. She signed, "Really? Another hole? Dang it... was not wanting to get a new shirt so fast." She place hands on her hips. "I guess I can't get to mad at you. Not your fault. Let me get the clippers and I'll come back and fix you right up. Can't have you tearing others clothes." She spoke. As she walked, she seem to float in between the flower beds. She reached the bench where her tools sat and picked up the clipper, small shovel, and her broken iPod that still function for her to play her music. She looked around the garden she helped redesigned. She loved how the rose bushes almost make a small wall and then the Creeping Pink Thyme seems to make paths that lead toward the beautiful water fountain in the center. Closer to the fountain you can find benches that are nestled in with Morning Gory, Heuchera Black Pearl, Agave Black Widow, and Ninebark Summer Wine Black. She turns back toward the rose bush that have over grown a little when she felt a vibration in her back pocket. She sighs knowing who is calling her at this night. She pulled out her phone, "Hello mother... yes, I am fine. Nope, I am not coming home. Yes, I am still working... no, it is not at Dark estate. I don't care that I am a gardener. I love my job... nope, I won't tell you where I am at now. Yes, I love you too. I will call you another day." She replied and hang up before her mother could continue on. She place her phone back in her pocket and turned on some music from her broke iPod. She kept to volume low enough she can still hear what is going on around her. She needed the distraction. Every time her mother it was draining. She couldn't prove it, but she still feel that her parents pulled the strings to get her fired from her last job. They been dying to get their trophy daughter back since she picked up and left home 4 years ago. She shook her head pushing that drama out of her head for now trying to get her mind back on her task. She felt a prick and looked down and realize she just nip her finger with the clipper. She looked around and realize she went on auto-pilot and she didn't realize she was already trimming the rose bush. "Dang it!!! She cursed. "I am so sorry... I zoned out. Did I cut you too much?" She fussed, not caring that her finger is bleeding at the moment. She signed and realize she didn't damage the bush. She bring her finger up to her mouth and light suck on the wound. "I need to just block them... but then..." She sighs. "Family is complicated..." she moaned in annoyance. She shook her head again and went back to finishing her task so she can go crash for the day.

Devin reached out and gave Amira a hug and gave her a strong yet gentle squeeze with his arms. "We both need to be strong for that person out their in the world that hold our heart. If we have faith in them and trust in them then I know that everything will work out in the end." Devin looked her up and down and held her out a bit with his hands on her shoulders and he looked her in the eyes and smiled.
"You're a mess." He chuckled gently doing his best to lighten the mood as he then let go of her and looked up to the ceiling for a sec and brought his hand to his chin in thought. "Chris...Is he a handsome young man, looks about your age, Human, short dark hair and a decent build with a determination in his eyes and even though he is human, could care less if his investigations would take him to hell and back?"
He waited for Amira to start the conversation about Chris and then he cut her off the moment she started. "I've never met him." He raised his hands in apology and smiled as he closed his eyes waiting for a hit of some kind. "I know, bad joke...You have a type and I wanted to see how close I could get. Trust me when I say a man like that isn't dumb and wouldn't willingly want to be away from a creature such as yourself. You have a lot going for you in many ways." He winked. "Maybe when we find that sire they'll know more about his whereabouts or at least maybe have some info on missing persons."
Devin lowered his hands and turned to walk to the door and he slowly opened it and graciously motioned for her to lead. "Are you coming or do I need to leave you in my bed a little longer so you can fantasize a little more about the Vampire and his countless love affairs." He readied himself this time in case she wanted to attempt to bruise his arm again, or something else.
Devin had always been a tease and it wasn't always a flirtatious one or a sexy tease but a teasing like an older brother would give a younger sister. Devin adored Amira and had been there for many of her stories about her friends, her lovers, The man or her dreams Chris and even angels and demons. Devin had been their to save a life or two and he understood the attraction and the crush she had. Had he never met his beloved perhaps in another life Amira and him would have been a thing? Devin smiled to himself and shook his head while walking with Amira. No, they were not meant for such dark passion or relationship. Theirs was a strong bond but it was different and that was Perfect.
