Cold and ominous was the foreboding ruins of the forgotten city. The day slowly faded into dusk and chilling wind blew through the streets whispering and throwing dust into the air. The slowly dying rays of sun cast their warmth for only moments longer. In moments the cycle of day was complete and soon to be followed by the shadows of night. All was silent save for the bitter wind mourning through the city ruins of Vertex. On the very edges of the abandoned metropolis stood a small mountain with many a structure carved into its slopes. The side facing the city was far less steep than all its others that once made it a suitable place for Vertex's architects to construct further into the heavens.
Atop the summit there was a grand and ancient temple that had been carved from the very rock of the mountain. It stood in the shape of an octagon with a great dome cracked and weathered from centuries of disuse. Three small cathedral-like structures branched out from the Norther, Western, and Southern sides of the dome, each with their own spires supported by buttresses; the western one having collapsed over the steep cliff the temple over looked. A truly ominous sight to behold as the whole temple stood like a sleeping sentinel over the whole of the ruins. Also a wonder since such large structure has withstood the weathering of time for so long. There was even a straight path made of crack stones leading right to the temples large ornate doors from the bottom.
Over head, black clouds began rolling in from all directions and there was a sudden shift in the air. A thunder clap in the distance broke the silence as the clouds cast an even darker shadow over land. The wind began to pick up from a breeze until it began to blow harder and whipping in the ruins below. The puffy giants were gathering in the skies over the temple beginning to swirl around over the dome. Lightning flashed across the sky and more thunder claps rang out through the air. At this point the wind was roaring all around the mountain and throwing dust and small debris everywhere as the unnatural storm's intensity grew.
Inside the central chamber of the temples great dome the wind and thunder could be heard through windows in the walls of he chamber. A large hole in the domed roof revealed the eye of the maelstrom was directly over the center of the room. In the very center large chamber was a platform raised about ten feet from the floor with four stair cases on each side leading to the top. Atop that stood a wide archway with a large crystal in its top that was alive and cracking with purple energy. A series of glyphs that lined the arch began to lighting up and the crystal grew even brighter, casting an eerie violet glow about the room.
The whole event had only been going on for only ten minutes. But such an awe inspiring omen surely would not go unnoticed to any soul that may be barring witness. The flashes of lightning and unsettling wind could be seen and felt for miles around.
