Katarina's travelled everywhere and done anything she pleases so long as it's during the night. Feeding upon humans is easy, turning them is even easier, but baring their rejection afterwards is sometimes something that grates on one's emotions. Yes, in spite of the follkore that vampires have no emotions, they do infact have that. Loneliness is one thing that Katarina suffers, after being a vampire for so long. So in this city, and on this night, she hopes yet again that the humans she'll turn will stay with her or at least try to be friendly with her, instead rejecting her out right, or even letting the morning sun turn them to ash.
Now, Katarina stands in the shadows of a dark alley, waiting for her next meal or victim to turn, and as she stands there, her mind drifts back to when she'd been turned. Her sire had been a cruel one indeed. She hadn't asked to be turned, and yet, out from the darkness he came, and drained her to the point where she might have died. Katarina's sire let her drink just enough to prevent her death, and then left her there to fend for herself. She only survived after because a couple of people have tripped over her and fallen. She returned to her home to have the comfort of her family, but found herself put out. Sensing where these memories would take her, Katarina allows a frown to marr her features as she gives her head a soft shake. "No sense in dwelling in the past." she thinks to herself.
"All these children who go to school, and take tests at the end of the year. They think they have it hard. Nothing to what happens when you're turned into my kind" Katarina murmurs under her breath, remembering how hard it had been for her at first. Not able to eat real food. Not able to drink even the sweetest of wines, or to enjoy a sunrise in the early mornings. Sighing softly, she lets her mind drift back again, and she regrets going out that night against her parents wishes.... against their better judgement. She'd told them in argument that she can take care of herself! How wrong she'd been! "Fools! Enjoy your life while you can!" Katarina grumbles silently as she she brings herself back into the present. "Do you know what's really hard? The true test? Loneliness. Pure loneliness." she continues on with her thoughts "Maybe - maybe tonight will be the end? The end to all of my loneliness, and I'll at least have a friend."

Calum walked slowly down the street at thee best time of all...night time for once again he had no money and was unable to find a place that would take him in for a price he could handle..."free". He looked around and growled to himself as he looked to his priestly black cloths and silver cross on his neck and he sighed...." Of all the things I always said I would never be...fast food guy, courtesy clerk, salesman, in a relationship" I now see that I should have added another...priest of a stupid order that fights the paranormal which translates to basically everything that is evil with is basically everything in this whole damned city!!! I can see now why its called City Of The Damned! because everything here is damned!." As Calum was yelling at himself it just so happen that there was two vampires hiding in an alley way and of all the things they could have heard him say they heard the world priest...any other would would have been all so much better but no they heard "Priest" of which they hate. The two vampires came out of hiding and they walked into the path that Calum was walking and as they came out the older of the two spoke first." Hey...Priest...you have a light..." the two vampires laughed and Calum laughed along with them and they stopped as they looked at him with murder in there eyes and Calum tried to make light of it.." Ha ha I get it..you said light as in I would have one because I'm holy and what not...that's very funny...umm.. Bye!!!" Calum turned and started to run away from them and then he turned down a dark small alley and he held his breath and the two vampires ran right by and as he heard the foot steps echo grow dimmer until he could hear nothing he let out his breath and spoke lightly." that was close.."
As Calum turned around to head the other way both vampires were behind him and smiling wide.." we love playing cat and mouse before a good meal..." they got closer and closer and then they both jumped at him and as they did two gun shots rang out and both feel to the ground and Calum was standing there holding his Holy weapon out with one hand and he spoke lightly as the two vampires burst into flames.." I guess they didn't need a light after all..." he smiled at his own joke and he out his gun away as he started to walk down the sidewalk and as he passed yet another alley way he thought he saw movement and in the blink of an eye he pulled his gun and aimed it expertly in between the eyes of a ....pretty girl?...he lowered the gun quickly and smiled as he took his right hand and put it behind his head in an apologetic expression after holstered his gun." I'm so sorry...I run into two vampires already and I thought my already $hitty luck had gotten even worse...sorry about that." he looked to her and like the dumba$$ he was he dropped his guard and thought only about how pretty the girl was instead of why she was all alone by herself in a dark alley like the other two vampires were.

The human's a priest!? Not that she hates them. Hell she isn't afraid of them, but alot of them are vampire hunters and would be more than happy to end her unlife! Katarina doesn't want to die just yet. The thought itself causes the vampyress to pause as she ends up thinking to herself "Would it be such a horrible thing?" Death. Those other two vampires never thought it would come to them but they'd been foolish in trying to scare the priest whom appearantly is a vampire hunter. A curse! A freak! An abomination! All of the above may be true, but some never asked to become a monster to be feared. Pushing the priest and the other vampires from her mind, Katarina moves further into the dark alley, not wanting to be seen. "Just move on and I'll forget that I saw you or even heard your voice." she thinks to herself regarding the priest. The last thing really that Katarina wants is to have to fight him, especially when she hasn't exactly been schooled in the way of the vampire. Really the only weapon she has on her are claws that are really sharp nails.
A moment of the usual nightly sounds is heard and for that moment, Katarina hoped that the priest had moved on. Slowly now, the vampiress moves out of the darker part of the alley. It's to her surprise and horror that she finds herself face to face with the same priest whom is now holding a gun to her. If Katarina had a mortal heart, it'd stop on a dime and she'd have a heart attack. "How?! How had could he have seen me?" she thinks to herself. But now he's lowered the gun and apologizing to her? Strange man indeed! Certain that if she allowed her fangs to show in a smile, so instead she only gives a slight curve of her lips in the form of a polite smile. "Apology accepted. It's dangerous for most humans to be out, but the night suits more than the day does." Katarina replies quietly. Maybe he'll just think that she takes too much for granted and is a foolhearted girl seeking adventure. She's quite the opposite really! "Would it be so bad if he knew? He'd shoot me you dead, and that would be the end of it. No emotional suffering. So what if you're damned by someone else's choice?! The point would be that it would be over with! Forever!" a small part of the young vampiress chimes in. In truth? No, it wouldn't. But Katarina always hoped that it wouldn't have to come to that.

Calum as always was foolish to fall for her looks and for allowing himself to think she was in danger out here when it was really he who was in danger but such thing were never on his mind as foolish as he was, he was still a pure hearted soul and he always ment well even if things didn't always go as he planned not that he ever planned much to begin with. He looked her over and then he looked around the area they were at and he spoke lightly to her.
your brave and I like that but you are quite lucky..sadly i had to take out two vampires who would have torn me apart and that was only right down the street...I'm glad they bumped into me and not you..I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if someone was hurt or killed and I could have stopped it." He looked down the street and didn't see any inns or any house that looked like they would be where she stayed so he just spoke his mind like he always did." I'm sorry if I'm blunt but I don't want you to get hurt out here so I ask you...nay..I beg that you let me walk you to your place so I can make sure you stay safe..I know that sounds like a really bad pick up line but I couldn't be more serious. if you say no I'll understand but know that my prayers go with you if that ends up being your choice." he flinched at his words of prayer and was a little sickened that he actually used those words because now three things could happen here. 1. he could get kicked in the balls. 2. he will get a slap and then she will run or finally 3 she'll think him some doom sayer and slowly back away from him and leave...all of which he hoped she didn't do but mostly he hoped his man hood wasn't going to be in danger. " so what do you say?" as he waits for her answer he thinks to himself ("please don't kick me..please don't kick me...") he smiles lightly.

A single dark brow arches at his comment. Brave? Against the night? No. Against people like him. Yes. But then she could care less either way. All she wanted was to find an end to the loneliness. A slight grin curves her dark lips. "The night time doesn't scare me, it's when I'm most active. I do not even usually leave my residence until it's the sun is out of the way." she says lowly "Creatures of the night don't scare me either. I have not been attacked by anyone here." Looking the priest up and down now, she wonders how he got away with his life, especially since he was alone, and he said there were two vampires that attacked him. Coming out of the alley alittle more, she moves slowly, still studying the priest. Oh he would be delicious! "Careful though, he could have swallowed a pint of holy water." Katarina thinks to herself "And what will you do when he finds out that you're a child of the night??"
So now he offers to walk her home. What an interesting man! And he still hasn't figured out that she's a vampire as well. Tilting her head to the side, Katarina finds this priest quite interesting. He even seems to be the type of person to listen, to hear the other side of the story. "Your kindness is sweet, as is your concern for someone such as me. But you see, in the end, you would seek to kill me the moment we arrived at my place of residence." Katarina says quietly, a smile finally curving her lips, which would slightly reveal her fangs. Ah yes and now the proverbial cat will be out of the bag. Would he kill her like he killed the other two vampires? Or would he stay his hand. These are questions that run through Katarina's mind as she awaits anxiously for his reaction. The ball is in his court, though she moves fully out of the alley now and glances at him. "Before I leave you, or before you follow me, think well on this, Priest. There are those of us who think this is a curse. Not a gift. And there are those of us who never asked to be what we are. There are losses that are suffered" Katarina says pointedly before turning to go on her way. She would leave the decision up to him. If he comes after her to kill her, then so be it. The curse would be lifted. If he decides to spare her, then she would just go on doing what she has been doing. Searching for a way to end the loneliness, searching for a victim that wouldn't end up turning on her, thus ending the loneliness that way.

Calum looked to her and then when she showed herself to him and he saw fully what she was really and why she was out at night and then rather then take his hand and move it to his gun he put his hands on his hips as he took her in..." Well...that figures...." He thought about it and about everything that she had said to him sense there meeting and it only figures that she would be what he hunted and by the laws and codes of his oder he was to kill all vampires and things of the paranormal wither they be good or bad...." Well this is something different....By the laws of my oder i'm suppose to kill you wither you be good at heart or evil....there views are that whole....better safe than sorry type of attitude..." He looked to his gun and then he looked back to her as she started to walk and he spoke as he started to move with her." i was never one to follow all the rules so i'll hold off on shooting ya....at least until i walk you home...." He smiled as he took a place next to her as they walked. Everything from his training was tilling him that he should shoot her right now and end it but he didn't want to do that because she really didn't seem evil like so many stories about vampires.

At the priest's comment Katarina arches a brow again. What did he think she was in a city like this. Most humans.... except for him aren't brave enough to venture out into the night. And the few that do, are on a death wish, or just people who claim want to be turned. Half of the vampire race are a sociable lot, and the other half are bent on draining their victims right down to the last drop of blood. Katarina is far from that, but hell, she isn't about to starve. That's all beside the point! "I care not for your laws, Priest. I care not for what you might think of me either, if you think anything." she says bluntly, which is all true. The only priest she ever cared for is now dead due to age and sickness. On the bright side of all of this, he can shoot her, kill her then and there. The loneliness would end, then so would her unlife. But, it would be the end of the curse that had been bestowed upon her.
Katarina stops in her tracks, feeling rather insulted, and so she turns on her heels, glaring daggers at the priest! "You would walk me to my home and kill me then?! What would be the damned difference?! If you're going to kill me, then do it now! It's an insult to kill someone at their own home..." she says, already calming down. After a few seconds of continuing to glare at the priest, Katarina turns around again to yet again go on her way to the cemetary, where she'd been staying. "I never asked for this -- to become what I am now. I was turned, and left on my own. Everything I learned, I learned on my own. I am an outcast even among the forsaken." Katarina says lowly, keeping the fact that she has only turned humans in an effort to stave off the loneliness of this horrible curse to herself.

Calum looked to her after she took out her daggers and he shrugged it off..." you have nothing to worry about...I don't follow the rules of my order anyway...i'm the best they got so you wont dare fire me...I'm bad ass even compared to the old guys!" He laughed lightly and then he started to walk with her again." if i was going to shoot you i would have shot ya when i first met you but i don't sense the same evil, brainless desires and spirit that i did in the other two...your different than them so hence...no shooting, Lets just enjoy the walk and then will worry about everything later if it comes to it and if not cool....I'll probably just leave and go back to my stupid training and what not..." He listened to her as she spoke and he nodded lightly as what she was telling him reminded him or himself and what he had been through." i know it is far from the same thing but i had no choice in being what i am now...and like you i cant just leave this life style because one of the laws is once a priest always a priest and if i were to try and get away i would be hunted down and killed....i was forced to become a priest before i was even 10 years old so yeah....I can relate....kinda"

Well this is something new to Katarina! All other priests she might have seen would have immediately tried to kill her. Strangely enough, she would have only given enough of a fight to make it fun, and then let the priest kill her. Punishment for being stubborn and stupid when Katarina should have been smart and listened to her mother's warning. Sighing inwardly, Katarina silently wishes that she had listened, and then she wouldn't have suffered through so long. It isn't so much the lack of being able to see the sun rise again. The constant thirst for blood. It was and still is the loneliness. Maybe tonight of all nights will be a different one. One when she doesn't have to turn a human who ends up on turning against her for her sin.
Offering Calum the slightest of smiles, she gives a nod of affrimation. "It's a waste to take more than you need. That's at least what I think. I only ever turned a human to stave off the loneliness, but it fails in the end. I can't blame them for hating me, not really."Katarina says quietly, as they walk along the street now. The cemetary is still quite aways, but it has never bothered her due to what she is now. "Tonight is the first night I've gone without turning any one human just to see if he... or she would stay with me afterwards." she says softly as her spirts lift alittle, but then she adds more pointedly "I suppose it's still my own fault. After all, I ignored my mother's warnings about going out at night.... alone anyway. I try not to dwell on it, since it was such a long time ago."

Although i know the older guys of my order would be very mad at the fact that you have changed people i can see why you did it and i don't think it was evil that was driving those choices...like you said you were looking for companionship and that's not bad to look for so i agree with what you have done. " He continued to walk with her towards the cemetery and off in the distance he could see it and he smiled lightly as they got closer." We are almost to your home now...looks like tonight is going to be a peaceful night after all." They finally reached the front gate of the cemetery and he stopped and looked to her and he smiled." I enjoyed walking you home this night.

Katarina hasn't truly smiled in quite some time, not even when she thought when enjoying past memories of good times. Of course those times were when she was still human. Tonight is a first in a long time. "I mean no disrespect, Father, but fanatics are fanatics and won't listen to reason and always forget one thing. Vampires were human once upon a time, and that the path of evil isn't always the choice one makes." she says quietly. Over a century, and this is the first time Katarina's enjoyed one of her nightly walks, so as they drew closer to the cemetary, she finds it alittle saddening that their walk's coming to an end. On the other hand, Katarina will be able to have a night to look back upon and smile at the memory. "Thank you, Father. I enjoyed our walk also, and the conversation. It means alot to me that you're open minded and understand me, so thank you for that also." Katarina says softly.

Oh please don't call me farther.....that sounds so bad sense i'm a young guy and all. He smiles and laughs lightly as he looks to her and then he bows as he looks to the cemetery ." home sweet home i guess. Anyways i'll let you go and maybe i'll see you again some night." He smiled and waved a little and then started to walk away but unknown to them both some of the older members of the order were watching him and were not happy with the boy decision not to kill the vampire.

A slight smile curves Katarina's lips as the slightest bit of hope seeps into her heart. Out of all the priests and hunters in the world, she's fortunate enough to meet one with an open mind. "Home would be where the heart is, so to me, it's only a place to rest during the hours of the day." she says quietly, glancing towards the cemetary. "If the fates are willing, we shall indeed meet again, Calum." Katarina says quietly, and then without another word she watches him turn and walk away.
It was only when he's out of sight when the smile slips from the vampyress's lips. Without a single sound or a single word more, Katarina turns quickly and hurries off to the cemetary and to the mausoleum that some would call her home. Home to her, would be somewhere in England, if her family were still alive... and if she had not been so foolish and went for a late night walk.
"The past is the past, and it shall ever be in the past. No sense in dwelling in a mistake I cannot correct, even now." Katarina thinks to herself as she finally approaches the mausoleum and lets herself in. Only when closing the gates and door is does she relax in a sofa that might have been there for at least a century... or more. It doesn't matter. It was a place to sit or rest until the sunsets again.

" Then let up hope the fates be willing" Calum nodded his head as she went into the cemetery and after she did he turned and started to head back deeper into the city. Now other than the battle against vampires and all other creatures of the undead, Calum would now have to complete the hardest test, finding a place to sleep. Calum walked passed an old church and he glared at it as he thought about a place like that being his only option but he rather sleep where his decisions were his own and not something judged by god or another priest.
He sighed as he walked past the church and kept searching. A couple hores passed and it was now 12 noon and he was again outside the same olf church and he growled as he looked up. " Can't get more clear than that...." he walked onto the holy grounds and slowly he made it to the door as he held out his hand and was about to knock when the door opened and a small old lady was standing there with a big smile on her face." Took you long enough. Get in here, you must be tired and hungry." Calum smiled lightly as the day passed and when night was again in the air he gave his thanks to the old woman and with a full belly and good rest he was ready to purge the entire city of evil! Yeah right....
