The man prowled down the street, as the rain pounded down. A book was open in his hand, his hat keeping the pages from getting wet.
"Humanity cannot gain without losing. To gain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange." Araris chuckled. "If only Pythagoras had known what could be done...he would have never written that."
He lowered the book and tucked it into a pocket of his long trenchcoat.
Lightning flashed overhead and the howl of wind was powerful.
"There is a fowl stench on the air tonight. Someone...someone is triffling with forces best left alone...."
He continued his walk, letting his nose draw him to the source of this foul feeling......
