In the time since Qalyur Vorke and Faint Shadow's child was born, much has transpired. A mere three years later, Qalyur was murdered protecting his wife and son from dark forces unknown to this universe. Since then, Shadow has relocated to the City of the Damned after her husband's hideout in the Night Rain Forest was destroyed in an attempt to allow her son live a normal life; until he realizes his calling as one of the Chosen of Destiny, that is. She's hardly told her son about Qalyur, more because of feelings of guilt and a lurking depression than anything else. This story begins about twenty-two years after the child was born. The story of the Rise of the next Chosen of Destiny, and his part as the destroyer or savior of Earth. **************** Gabriel Shadow walked along the busy street, cars flitting by in his peripheral vision. Summer had started, meaning college classes were over for him and his friends. Right now he was headed to Jake Smith's house where a celebratory party was taking place. It was fairly late in the day, but that would be fine since they were planning an all-nighter; having even one entrance open at night in this city would be a very bad thing indeed. Finally, he reached the larger than average building and knocked on the steel door. It opened in seconds, admitting him inside. He smiled and started chatting amiably with the other people inside; he got along with basically everyone, due to his laid-back attitude and friendly personality. "Hey you." A feminine voice said from beside him as a slender elbow poked him in the ribs. Gabriel turned to smirk at his best friend, one hand rubbing the small but quickly developing bruise. ((OOC: I'll let you take it from here, Amira.))

Olivia smiled big at him. "Where have you been? We all been wondering."
But mostly I had been wondering, she thought to herself.
The others that were in the room were talking amongest themselves. It was a group of teens that had banded together to fight the evils of the world as they fought next to their new friends side.
"Well?" she said grinning bigger at him.
...............
Shadow walked around her home with a heavy sigh. It hadn't been the same being here sense her son went off to college. Even though he wasn't that far away it still was odd for her being alone in this big house. It was quiet and lonely. Looking around she had a very odd feeling come over her. Maybe it was nothing but still it felt deep down in her gut felt odd. She shook it off. Maybe she she find herself a few friends to hang out with. Who knows maybe she could have a second chance at a new life.
Shaking all that out of her mind she walked over to the window and looked out. The sun was beginning to disappear which would make this wonderful City turn to hell. Luckly for her no creatures could enter her home without her say so because of a spell that surrounded it.
"Uh, Mrs. Shadow... What do you request for dinner this evening?" Higgins asked as he stood there staring at his boss.
"I don't feel like eatting Higgins," she said her tone sounding depressed.
"No offense Mrs. Shadow but I was promised to take care of you in all things so you must eat sense you haven't all day."
Silence.
"Please, eat," he whispers to her.
She turns to him with a small smile on her face that doesn't quite reach her eyes. "Alright," she begins, "Make me a steak. You know how I like that."
Higgins bows. "Yes, ma'am." He turns and leaves.
Shadow just keeps staring out the window hoping her son was ok. The world seems to be safer with him here now. It all will be ok.
(OOC: Hope thats an ok start. Grace Nuit is Amira Nuit half sister so I thought that could be a good starting point. Also I want Katy to be apart of this to because she is like a god but she is still figuring all that out. Still thinking who else but not sure yet.)

((OOC: Gotcha; I also don't mind who you bring in. And as a quick note, Gabriel doesn't know he's the next Chosen One.)) "One of the professors wanted to have a last-minute chat with me after the lecture." Gabriel explained, mock-slugging Olivia on the shoulder in retaliation for her jab a couple seconds earlier. "Hey Gabe, glad you could finally make it." Jake stepped up to Gabriel, a crooked grin adorning his narrow face. They shook hands roughly, then walked into the large living room as a trio. Several Hours Later... [/size] Gabriel snickered as Sam Witticker finally dozed off, bottle of cheap beer sliding out of his hand with a clatter, the other college student's body following it a couple seconds later. All around, mostly everyone else was unconscious or drifting away. He himself didn't drink anything alcoholic, so he just laughed at his friends along with Olivia, who was curled up almost catlike on the couch next to him. ((OOC: Yeah, you can see where this is going. But it's even more interesting than it otherwise would be, because something bad's gonna happen shortly... *evil laughter* ))

(OOC: I would be sad if something bad didn't happen. LOL. I changed the name to Olivia as you can see. Her nickname is Liv or Red or Little Red and she is a shape shifter.)
Olivia laughed as she and Gabriel watched their friends pass out as she cuddle up to Gabriel.
Man he smells good, she thought to herself.
"So everyone is out cold but you and me," she said with a little hesitation in her voice. "What did you want to do?" She just awaited for his answer. How she cared for him. He was so specail to her and she couldn't see her life without him. She was a very lucky little girl.
...................
As Shadow still stared out the window Higgins walked back into the room and cleared his throat. "You're dinner is done my lady."
She turned towards him. "Thank you Higgins." She walked into the dinning room and sat down in her chair. Her steak was sitting on the table awaiting her to dig in. As she picked up her knife and began to cut into her meat she let out a heavy sigh. Why did she feel this way? It didn't make any sense to her. Maybe she should call him just to hear his voice. How she missed him so. No, he had his own life to live. But, she wanted to just be apart of it.
Putting a piece of steak in her mouth she chewed slowly as she kept battling her thoughts.
Maybe I will call him after I am done eatting, she murmuers to herself.
So she picks up the pace on finishing her steak so she could call her son...

Gabriel seemed to hesitate as he looked over at Olivia. In truth, he had wanted to ask her out many times before, but he always seemed to stop short of doing so for some reason. But this time, there wasn't an odd compulsion-seeming effect about him. "How about we start with this..." He leaned over and kissed the shapeshifter, one hand delving into her fiery curls while the other almost hovered above her waist. ***** Deep inside Gabriel's consciousness, the spark of something extraordinarily powerful brightened softly. It would be needed soon...

Olivia's eyes widen in the sudden kiss from her best friend. Lost now in the moment she closes her eyes as she returns the kiss with the same amount of passion. She then slowly pulled back and locked eyes with his. "I...uh...that was..." she tried to say but the words weren't coming out the way she wanted them too. Still it was amazing.
She was about the go in for a second when suddenly Gabriel's phone rang. With a sigh Olivia sat back but kept her gaze on his face as he answered it. In the tone he spoke to the other person on the other end of the line, she knew it was his mother. With a small smile she told him to say him from her as she was silent through their conversation.
....
Shadow heard her son's voice on the forth ring. "Uh, hi honey. I am sorry if this is a bad time but I just needed to....I just wanted to hear your voice." There was a pause before she contiuned. "So, how is everything at your school and your friend...what was her name again? Right, tell her hi back from me. Listen honey I feel like their was another reason I wanted to call but I am not sure why. Something in the air is changing and I just wanted you to be on your guard, ok?"

"Yeah, I always am." Gabriel replied, brow furrowing slightly. "Alright, well I'll see you tomorrow or so. Bye." He slid the phone back into his pocket, then looked over at Olivia again. "So...where were we?" They embraced again, both hearts beating far quicker than the norm.
While they were doing this, Jake, who was still somewhat conscious, was slowly walking to the living room from the kitchen when he heard a light rap on the door. He shuffled over to it, a stupid grin spreading across his face; he evidently thought it wasn't night, and that someone was late for the party. A distant voice screamed inside his head to just walk away, but it was drowned out by something else.
"Hey, welcome in guys!" Jake said as he cracked the door open to take a peak at who was outside. The instant after he said this, a single punch from the vampire on the other side shattered his skull and flung him back to the wall behind.
The first vampire lead three others into the house, his eyes immediately fixing on Gabriel and Olivia entwined on the couch. They pounced on the two and dragged them apart.
"Thanks for getting her warmed up for us, mate." A stocky bloodsucker said, another vampire aiding him in restraining the shapshifter.
Two of the group held Gabriel as well, their hands gripping his arms tightly. He hopped into the air slightly, letting the vampires hold his weight while whipping a foot around to crunch into the vampire's groin on the right. He then jabbed the one his left in the eye, making him start in pain. Gabriel had only pulled off that maneuver because the two grabbing him were distracted as the other two were starting to go to work on Olivia, and that showed when the half-blind one lashed out with a backhand.
Gabriel went spinning through the air before crashing into the wall and sliding down, blood dripping from the cuts on his face caused by the blunt force trauma.

Shadow just stared at her phone. She was upset her son didn't want to keep talking to her. Maybe he was busy, her subconsicious told her. Still something didn't feel right in the air. Hitting redial on her cell she began to tap her foot awaiting for her son to pick up. She wasn't liking that he wasn't answering her. She hung up and tried again and hoping he would answer. If he didn't then maybe she should head over to where he was.
She made it clear that he had to tell her where he was staying and if he moved he had to let her know. To him it just seemed like a worried mother but she knew the truth. When should she tell him he was the new Chosen One? When should he train with Amira or who was she going to pick for him to train with? Was Peanut his new gurdian angel too or did he get one himself? All these questions where held within a journal that her late husband had wrote and only her son's eyes should see it. Although Shadow knew a lot she didn't know everything and she would keep the promise to not read it. If anything Amira held all the answers and she could call her for help when she needed too. Still it all seemed a little much for. As a mother she had to protect her child but she couldn't do it forever.....
.................................
Olivia smiled big as Gabriel turned back to her and as they were about to pick up where the left off she was suddenly taken back but the fact in one quick mosion she went from being into her wonderful, loving, best friend (wishing to be more) arms to being filled up by three vampires.
"Stop it! Gabriel!" She yelled but the lead vampire began to kiss her, hard. She tired to pull away but the other two held her in place as their hands began wondered her body. Wondering what she should do now she began to think of what she could transform into. Thing was she had to pull away before she transform but it hurt her the last time she changed while someome held on. She needed to get free and only Gabriel could free her or it would come down to transform.... either way these blood sucking demons will pay for entering here.

The other vampires, after recovering from Gabriel's surprise attack, joined the others in ripping off Olivia's clothing very exuberantly. Unknown to them, the son of the Warrior and the Dhampir was still very much alive. And he was angrier than he had been in his life.
He rose to his feet, hands balling into shaking fists. The group of bloodsuckers stopped for a second to look over their shoulders at a sudden humming sound. Gabriel's eyes glowed crimson, and his face was twisted in a terrifying snarl.
Gabriel vaulted forward and bashed in one of the vampire's skulls with a kick, then turned to another and sank his fist through the creature's heart. The others attacked, but were taken down in mere seconds. One that had pounced was ripped in half vertically, the next kicked back with a caved in chest, and the last fell with a vicious headbutt that shattered his skull and neck.
The entire battle had taken place in a matter of split-seconds, but Gabriel didn't seem to notice as he staggered towards the open door. A werewolf snooping around inside the entrance hallway was thrown bodily out at the foot of a small crowd of night-dwellers wanting to go inside the house.
Gabriel stood in the doorway, energy crackling around him. To the gathered creatures, he looked like an avenging god. Some in the back had the sense to turn tail and bolt away, but even they weren't fast enough.
A wave of energy exploded out from Gabriel as he roared, the sound of fury echoing for miles, a precursor to the cascading energy. It was focused around the house area, so it didn't damage anything too badly elsewhere in the city, but it would knock several people on their rumps. As for those inside the deadly radius, they were incinerated.
The door seemed to slam shut of its own accord as a barrier erected over the house, keeping everything out until the sun shone in the morning.
Gabriel stepped back from the shut door, then collapsed, eyes no longer glowing.

Olivia screamed as she was thrown back against the wall by the vampires as they tried to fight Gabriel. She was afraid of what she was seeing before her. He was pissed and he was glowing because of it. Something she hadn't seen before. But from everything happening when she is afraid she to begins to glow a bright yellow as she transforms into a tabby cat. It was the only thing that made her feel safe when she needed to ecsape when she felt afraid.
In her little cat form she walked over to Gabriel who was sitting on the ground and meowed up at him. She then snuggled up against him sense she couldn't change back until she calmed down, it was the only thing she could do until then.
.......................
Shadow saw a flash in the distance as she stood at her window.
"Higgins! Come quick. We need to leave...now!"
He rushed into the room holding up her coat so she could slip into it. Once in the car Higgins rushed over to her son's place and felt a strong pull of some kind around it.
A force field, she told herself when they pulled up in front of the building. This time she texted her son saying she was outside and wanted to know what happen. As she awaited something odd felt like it was headed their way. Something dark. She hated the feeling and wanted no part of it.
She then texted Amira to call her as soon as she had the chance too. Things were happening now and her son needed to learn the truth. With a heavy sigh she held her bag close to her that had the secrets of the truth inside.
It can't wait until tomorrow anymore, her subconsicious screamed at her. That she already knew she just wished it would because she wanted to hang onto her little boy for a just a little bit longer. A tear ran down her cheek knowing after tonight nothing will be the same between them. That was what she was truly afraid of. She just wanted to always be apart of his life. Hopefully he would see it that way too....

Gabriel awoke in a dark place, but somehow knew it wasn't Jake's house or even anywhere on Earth. No, it was inside his own mind. And yet...it somehow wasn't. He winced as a flash of light swept through the darkness, revealing an old yet powerful looking man sitting in a cross-legged position before him. "Who are you?" Gabriel asked, thoughts jumbled in confusion. "What happened?" "My name has been lost in time, but my previous incarnation was known as Garnian Krai." The man spoke, his voice strong. "As for what happened, I took control briefly and utilized your potential. It was too much for you, unfortunately, and now your unconscious body lies inside the house still." "...What do you mean, my potential?" "My boy, you are the next Chosen One, or Chosen of Destiny if you really want to be specific." Gabriel struggled for words briefly. "But...why are you here? Isn't this my mind or something?" "When my last body died, my spirit jumped to yours when you were still in your mother's womb. It's an old trick I picked up to prevent my death." "So...you're going to control me." "Not exactly, no. It will be more of a...merge of personalities. My spirit being in you crucial, as without my help you would've been killed or blown up the world by now. Plus, I can help hone your abilities far quicker than normal." "Okay." Gabriel paused for a second. "What happens now?" "Now?" The old man grinned wickedly. "Now, our spirits merge." ***** Gabriel screamed, the sound of pain distorting as it rippled through the city. Glass shattered, and the eardrums of those nearby started bleeding from the intense volume of the noise. After several seconds, he slumped back to the ground, still as death. ***** The multicolored barrier surrounding the house faded as the sun came up, allowing access to those who were outside. Gabriel stirred slightly, but he would not wake for at least a few hours.

Higgins opened the door for his boss and as she stepped out of the car and stood outside the building suddenly their was a loud horrifying scream that came deep within the home as the buildings surrounding them began to shake as the windows blasted out. Higgins jumped on top of his boss to shield her from the shattering glass.
As everything died down Higgins helped Shadow to her feet as she felt the force field died down she rused inside to find her son on the ground unmoving as a little tabby cat lay on his chest. The cat raised her little green eyes to the woman and meowed at her.
Shadow smiled down at her as she picked her up and cuddled her in her arms. Then she had Higgins carry her son to his bed. As she sat beside his bed she looked down at the little tabby cat as she pet her.
"Its ok little one. I am here now. When you calm yourself enough you will change back. He will be fine. I promise." She said hoping it was the truth and he would soon awake to tell what had happened here.

"There will be a great deal of hardship on the road ahead, my son."
"A storm is coming... None of you can escape it, least of all those Chosen by Destiny."
"The Hunger will not falter, will not fail, will not cease. It will Devour everything."
"Gabriel, wake up. I mean it. WAKE UP!"
Gabriel started violently. He gasped loudly, and his eyes shone brightly, then returned to normal when he blinked. His eyes flicked to observe his surroundings. Judging by the sun, it was past noon.
"Hello again, Shadow." He said, and yet everyone knew it wasn't exactly Gabriel speaking. Not completely. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Shadow's eyes suddenly widen as her mouth drops. Then she stands and quickly backs away from him.
"It's not possible. You're dead!" She said as she began to pase still holding the tabby in her arms.
"Just not possible," she mummled more to herself then him.
Suddenly she stopped, turned, and faced him. "I want to speak to my son." She demanded her voice sounding hateful towards him.
How can this be, her subcusious screamed. Why was it happening?
None makes sense to her. Her head just swimming, trying to come up for air but something kept her from breaking through the waters surfuce.
God, whats next, her subcusious still screams at her. Then the thought of her son coming forth and her having to explain all she knew to him scared her because she didnt want to lose him. She had lost her first born (of which he knew none of her past before she knew her father. He didnt even know she and his grandfather were lovers. ) so many secrets and she was truly afraid of him learning the truth but in the long run it will make him a better person and chosen one. She let out a low sigh at the thought...

"You are speaking to your son." Gabriel said, his face impassive. "And while you are correct that Garnian Krai perished in the battle against Drake, his body wasn't exactly his own. Let me show you..." His eyes flashed, and a brief outline of the spirit's existence showed in Shadow's mind.
"You should be grateful." He continued after a moment. "Otherwise, I would be dead right now."
