She walked off her ship onto port to get a few more crew men and some more supplies. Looking around she held her head high as walked past some sailors.
"Not to bad looking their missy."
"The ocean is no place for a woman."
"No place for a woman captin you mean."
They all laughed a hearty mens laugh but she ignored their comments. She knew what she was and she was damn good at it. Looking around she came across some food carts. The men eyed her beauty as the women glared. Most wanted to protect their own things. After all she was a pirate.
Come across a pub and she walked in looking around heads turned and watched as she walked over to a corner table and sat down. The waitress brought her over a mug of ale and walked off. She looked around studing faces to see who would bit first to be apart of Captin Sophia Blackheart's crew.

It as the usual busy evening and Kat was rushed off her feet. She was a girl of eighteen years with black hair and skin like snow. She was working as a waitress and suffered crude remarks and the occassional groping hand from the patrons... but she didn't mind. It could be worse, she could be washing dishes. Kat had never settled well in this tavern though, she craved excitement, danger and adventure. But she was a girl, those were things that boys did. SHe would have to console herself dreaming of being a pirate... and stealing ofcourse. Kat was an accomplished thief and often picked the pockets of the customers. She kept all her stolen trinkets in a small chest in her meager lodgings upstairs. SHe had grown frightened of late though, her master had told her she was old enough now to start 'entertaining' their guests in their rooms.
Kat was quite excited when she saw the female customer sitting at a table by herself in the tap room. She was dressed like a pirate. A woman pirate! Kat tried not to gawp as she cleaned a table across from her. The woman already had a mug of ale so Gertrude must have already served her. PLucking up the courage to approach the woman, Kat wandered over and smiled at her.
"Uh... hello miss. Might I ask if you be one of them pirates?" She asked, chewing her lip nervously.

Sophia looked up at the girl and smiled. Then looked around the room no eyes were really on them so she held up a small money bag that was black with brown leather lacing. "What do you think?" She had watched the girl for a little while pick pocket some men who was having a little to much "fun" with her. They had layed her on their lap and their hands moving were Sophia wouldn't allow them to wonder but that was the life of a waitress. But she had talent and Sophia sought that to be good. So, she handed the bag to her and waved her to sit.
Sitting forward she whispered. "I be what you just called me, yes. A captin am I and my own ship." Then she leaned back and crossed her arms still smiling at her. "I have seen a look like that once before missy. The I wanted to do something fullish look. I am not sure you would be cut out for what I expect of my crew." She leaned forward and took a swig of her ale then smiled at the girl. "I don't think you have want it takes being a simple bar maid and all." She leaned back again and just watched and study her because whatever the girl said or did next Sophia knew it would be right by her. She just needed to see it.

Kat's eyes lit up eagerly, she tucked loose strands of her dark hair behind her ears. "Wow a lady captain! I didn't know there could be such a thing! And you're so beautiful! I wish I was as pretty as you." Kat was pretty, the men in the tavern always told her so, but her attraction came from her mousey and slight figure and her young face. She didn't have a full bosom or such adult sensuality that Sofia had. When Sofia mentioned about possiby being in her crew, Kat almost died. This was what she had dreamed of, being able to escape her mundane existance for life and adventure on the open seas. But she needed to prove herself. "Okay." Kat quickly glanced around them. "Choose one of 'em, anyone. I'll lift his purse or anything else you want from him."

Sophia began to look around. One man she saw in the tanver she had tried once before to steal from him and he had caught her. His price for not getting the soldiers involved was to sleep with him. She did just that. Afterwards he tried to tell his buddies but no one believed him so he just sat alone from then on. As she stared at him, his gaze ment hers and he stared her down or tried too. He wanted to teach her a listen again she knew and for this girl it would be a listen indeed.
Breaking his gaze she looked at the girl and said, "Their is a man glaring at me. He is the one I want you to take from. His money purse should be in his left front pocket. If you can handle it he is the one I want you to take from. Think you got what it takes?"
Sophia smiled at her. If he did catch her she would see if she could get out of trouble without her help but if she began to walk off with him then Sophia would step in her place. That was just the kind of captin she was for her crew. Loyal threw everything. If she was putting her in harms way it was Sophia who was going to pay for it.

Kat peered at her quarry out of the corners of her eyes and then turned back to face Sofia and nodded quickly. "No problem, captain! You can count on me." She beamed, elated that she had been given a chance to prove herself. She left Sofia's table and quickly lost herself in the busy hubbub around the bar.
Kat made her way towards the man sitting alone from a different angle and put on her sweetest smile as she slide herself into the seat beside him. "What you want?" He asked in a deep gruff voice. He looked like a very dangerous brute. He continued to eye Sofia like he sensed something was up. "Just tryin' ta earn a few extra bob is all." Kat told him, trying to make her accent seem more streetwise. She had even loosened the strings on her corset so it opened a little further to reveal more cleavage. "You feel like some company tonight stranger?" Once again he peered in Sofia's direction. "Depends. Do you know her?" "That woman?" Kat shrugged. "Never seen her before. I saw she was a pirate and assumed she was up for a bit of girl on girl action. She told me to get lost." While the brute continued to look at Sofia she easily whipped his purse. It had been right where she had been told it would. She left her hand on his leg and he turned to face her. "How about it then?" "Uh... okay." He grinned. "Great." The plan had been to make up some excuse and get away but she noticed he had some lovely gold rings. She just couldn't help herself. She engaged him in saucy conversation and laughed and flirted like an expert Dracula. She stole his rings one by one as she plied him with more drink. He didn't even notice. But it was becoming time to escape. "So... if we were to go upstairs somewhere more private... what would you do to me?" She laughed and beckoned him to whisper in her ear. She listened to what he said and suddenly slapped him. "How dare you! I am not that kind of girl! For shame!" She quickly got up from the table and stormed off.
She did it! She couldn't believe how easy it had been! She tried to stop herself from grinning like a chesire cat as she made her way back towards Sofia. Suddenly someone grabbed her wrist. She turned to see a very tall rough looking man who had two others with him. The three of them scowled at her angrily. "What do you want?" Kat snapped. "We saw you steal from our ship mate over there. The man's a no good liar but he's one of our crew and we look after our own! You gonna pay for thinking you can steal from a BlackHeart pirate."
The man held up his arm to deliver a terrible blow but Kat quickly retrieved her hidden blade from her skirts and cut his arm. "Ow! BLoody B1tch!" The man barked and back handed her across the face. The power of the slap knocked Kat to her knees infront of the man with a gasp. "I'll teach you not to mess with us!" He sneered and drew his blade. He raised the sword high to strike and Kat held up her arms in a helpless gesture and shrieked...
(P.S. I like the way the swearing prevention thing turns the word wh0re into Dracula lmao)

(OOC: Thats funny. I didn't do that but that's funny.)
Sophia was up within seconds. She took out her blade and swung her blade under his stop stop him from hurting Kat. The men spun to see her smiling at them. "That's not very nice you know."
"Neither is stealing!" The man barked as his other two crew mates nodded their head in agreement.
Sophia just smiled at him as she removed her blade and layed it on her shoulder. "She wasn't stealing." She looked down at Kat and held out her hand. When Kat placed her the items in her hand she handed it over to the crew mate. "It was a little game is all. No harm done." She turned back to Kat and helped her to her feet. As she pulled her away the man that they stool from was screaming and the four began to run after them. She saw three of her crew members at a table by the door. As they rushed past she said, "You know what to do."
The girls rushed out the door as the three men suddenly stood pushing their chairs back making the men trip and fly over them. Then they began to rush out the door behind them. As they made it to the ship she had them quickly cast off before they made it to the ship.
Sophia stood at the wheel laughing at the men as they drifted off. As she turned to Kat she held out both her hands with gold coins in one hand and the rings in the other. "Your reward love." She handed them to her and turned back to the wheel. She looked around and saw some new faces and some good old ones. She new a few would tell the new comers what their duties will be but she neeeded over all a first mate and this girl being young but wise could take her under her wing to do just that.
"So Kat. I what be your last name so we can think of a pirate name for thee."

"Mm, yes, because 'Kat' sounds so frightening." came a sarcastic voice from behind the Captain. A man walked out of the shadows, robes cloaking him and a scimitar at his side. "I'm Vorska, by the way. Captain's counselor. I look forward to getting to know you better, 'Kat'..."

Sophia glared at him for a moment then her face went back to half smiling. "You card." She told him then turned back to Kat. "He has a wonderful sense of humor but it must grow on you." She then began to look around. The open ocean was so maginfent. God how she loved being on the water. Alot of people called her a fish because she could go a month with just being on the water with no land in sight. The salt water in her veins. How she adored it. Then she looked back at Kat. "We are waiting love or maybe we should just make up and name. Just forget your name and come up with some anew." She looked to Vorska. "What say you?"

The terror at being nearly cut in half by the thug gave way to an exhilaration the likes of which Kat had never experienced before in her young life as they made their escape. Streets and hovels that had always been such a familiar sight blurred past her as she ran with Sofia to the docks, somehow she knew she would never see them again.
She exploded with laughter along with her new friend as they set sail. "Oh my stars and garters that was amazing!" She trilled, grinning widely. "I thought I was done for then you came in with your sword like this-" She swung her arms around with an imaginary weapon held in her tight grip. “I’ll never forget the look on his face!” She gasped at the sight of her ‘rewards’ and quickly took them. “Thank you! Thank you so much!” She stifled a laugh and handed Sofia the man’s purse. “I robbed the poor beggar a second time, right after you gave it him back. It’s yours as requested.”
Kat leaned against the railings, looking back towards her hometown as Sofia asked about giving her a pirate name. “Hmm,” She tapped her chin thoughtfully. “I don’t know I’ve never met a female pirate before you. What do you-” She was interrupted as a mysterious man suddenly stepped forward and introduced himself as Vorska. She gave him a quick curtsy and dropped her gaze to the floor, the way she had been brought up to greet men from her childhood at the orphanage. “Um.. Well met, and how do you do?” When he said he was looking forward to knowing her better she nodded politely. “As do I, sir.” She imagined there was some innuendo behind his words and blushed slightly, she had grown up on tales about the licentious ways of pirates… she just hoped Sofia would protect her from having to do anything she didn’t feel ready to do. Despite the groping, the forced kisses and the crude words said to her from male patrons at the tavern, the world of men and their exact anatomy was still a mystery to her.
She turned to see Sofia studying the ocean. She realised that perhaps just a knife hidden in the folds of her skirts wouldn’t be a suitable weapon for a pirate. Speaking of, perhaps Kat would need to dress more like a man, currently she was barefoot and wearing a corseted dress.
When probed a second time about a new name, Kat said, “Well my full name is Katrina, but I am happy to adopt a new one. Either of you have a suggestion?”

Vorska raised one eyebrow when Katrina blushed, and understood what she had thought about the meaning of his words. "Oh, don't worry," he said, winking. "I would not take advantage of you; unless you wanted it, of course. I am not that sort of pirate. But it would definitely be worth it, as the Captain here can attest to..." He ducked a blow from Sophia's fist, and came back up, snickering. He delved into thought for a few seconds before he came up with a couple good sounding pirate names.
"Hmm." mused Vorska, staring out at the water. "Katrina...Katrina Bloodwater. Katrina Moonscythe. Or Katrina Wavesword. What think you, girl?"

Kat let out an embarassed giggle as Vorska convinced her he would not try to force himself on her. A pirate gentleman, another type of pirate Kat hadn't thought existed before tonight. Though there was definately something different about him, in a supernatural sense.
Kat joined Sofia and Vorska in looking out at the sea. She breathed in the salty evening air and sighed happily as the cool breeze disturbed her black hair. Was she ever going to get tired of looking out at this? She had never felt so free in her life...
Kat listened to Vorska's name suggestions and drummed her small fingers on the wooden rail as she thought about them. She had never killed anyone yet, so perhaps a name with blood in it would be unsuitable. She liked the waves, endless and powerful and completely unpredictable... that's when she made her decision.
"Katrina Wavesword it is!" She said suddenly and held back the urge to clap happily. She couldn't imagine real pirates doing that. "Though... I need to practice using a sword." She shrugged helplessly. "Sorry, I've never been taught. Could one of you teach me sometime? I promise you I'm a fast learner." She glanced down at her attire. "And do you have somewhere I could change?"

Sophia smiled at the girl. It was hard not too. She could see the excitment on her face. It remembered her of well her when she first become a pirate though she followed under a man he was so sweet and kind to her. It wasn't long after that that he gave her this very boat and then disappeared. The crew had be very loyal to her but the days of some had turned so now she was looking at new faces. It was all great and she knew they would do her proud. At least she hoped for the best.
As she listened she nodded in agreement as she said, "No worries about learning how to hold a sword. I will teach you but it is a lot of work and I know I can led you a sword until you come up with one yourself." The she paused looking out into the sea again the back at the girl. "Wavesword. Hmmm, I love it though I might still call you Kat others will see you as First Mate Wavesword." She smiled big at her. "What do you think of that?"

While Sophia spoke, Vorska retrieved a standard cutlass and twirled it. Moderate balance, perfect for a beginner. He snuck up behind Kat again, and accidentally frightened her. She jumped a little, eyes widening, but he just sblack personed and held out the sword. "Here you go. That is your weapon for now. Keep it clean and well cared for. Otherwise you're not going to do so well in actual combat. Also, rule one: never grip the blade, as that is what the handle is for. Otherwise you are just going to end up losing a couple fingers."

"I love it!" Kat said, her voice raised in delight. She cleared her throat and tried to act more adult. She nodded and shook hands with Sofia like she had seen men in the tavern greet eachother. She wanted nothing more than to grab Sofia and hug her right then but she reminded herself she was a pirate now... pirates didn't do that.
The mysterious man suprised her suddenly, making her gasp, then held out a sword for her to take. She smirked at his words and rolled her eyes. "Well ofcourse silly, I have been around alot of kitchen knives." She took the sword from Vorska by the pommel, this making their hands touch briefly. She smiled shyly and lowered her eyes to appreciate the weapon. "Thank you so much. I'll take good care of it, I promise, Vorska."
The male pirate handed her a worn scabbard attached to a belt to go with it. She couldn't wait to try it on. Sofia gave her directions to a room below where she would find more suitable cloths to wear. She gave her new friends and crewmates a cheerful grin and a quick salute, then quickly went off to get changed, admiring her new weapon as she went...
